You know I normally have to stop watching the Academy Awards because I need to study for something or rather but this year I stopped because it's too freakin' predictable! Precious, Avatar, or the Hurt Locker. Wow, I might as well flip my bloody coin to guess the winners. Hmph!

AVATAR WINS VISUAL EFFECTS?!?! Not surprising but seriously?! District 9 deserved it.

A lot of the winners were not that supprising to me. I just knew that Sandra was going to win for Best Actress. When people would talk about "The Blind Side" all I ever heard about was her performance. A few others weren't suprising but I honestly though Avatar would be Picture Of the Year. Then again it is one of those movies people either HATE or LOVE there is no middle ground.

Did Steve and Alec make anyone else laugh really hard? :P

I am so happy right now.

Seriously. I could kiss a goat.

AVATAR GOT WHUPPED, THUMPED, DISCOMBOBULATED!!

Hurt Locker I <<3333333 U!!!

Take that you beast! Hahahaha! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :boing:

On a side note there we some horrific dresses. That pink, pouffy thing was awful! She needed her backside covered with the frills not her front! I like Monique's dress as unlike other larger ladies, she knows what bits need covering. Sandra Bullock's was a very plain colour, but VERY elegant without being boring. There was also a feathery purple one from someone who was in Avatar which was quite nice.

And at least Up won 2 awards (which must mean it's as good as Avatar as that only won 2 as wel muahuahauhauha).

I am loving the evil laughter JF. ;) I quite agree some of the dresses were... well, hideous. :frust: Sandra’s was by far my favourite though. I just fell in love with that dress.

Avatar did get owned by The Hurt Locker didn’t it? I wanted to see that movie but I never got the chance. :( Now I REALLY need to see it. I was really happy for Christoph Waltz and Mo’Nique for winning Supporting. There were both gave an amazing performance in my opinion.

Wow, I really didn't expect Avatar to do so badly! It even lost on some of the technical awards! It was totally fair, though. Congratulations, Academy. You haven't totally lost my respect of your judgment. :P

By the end of the night, I wasn't even worried about Avatar getting Best Picture, it was so clear that things weren't going its way. I'm really glad The Hurt Locker and Kathryn Bigelow won. And to have Barbra Streisand present Best Director to her was really special. :D

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin didn't quite have the flair of Hugh Jackman, but they did make me laugh a lot! I remember Tina Fey and Robert Downey, Jr. were really funny together too. And Gerard Butler presented!!

I was unimpressed with this year's dresses, too. I agree Sandra Bullock's was the only one I really loved. Penelope Cruz's and Gabourey Sidibe's were nice, too.

Haha! I am still so happeh that Avatar didn't win, although I too was surprised I think that it lost out on so many.

Just makes me wonder where this fantastic new way of making films will end up now eh? ;)

And I know that the votes are counted by a company and no one knows what's in the envelopes, but I would think that Barbra Streisand would not have been happy if it went to a male director. So it just makes me wonder.

I didn't see any of the awards, I'm hoping to see some today. But my brother said it was quite a boring ceremony overall. In the good old days they would have entertainment and acts and things.

The Oscars in my opinion, have never been as good as when ROTK won. It helps when yoyu have a win you want to win and it's up for loads of awards.

Your brother is certainly right.

Natalie Portman wasn't a presenter :D

But seriously, it was rather dull and I'm not quite sure if it was the ceremony itself or the fact that everyone and their mums knew which ones were going to win and since I didn't care about any of them, there was no anticipation.

I haven't seen the Hurt Locker but you know, I don't think I want to. Yes, I can be bitter :P

I haven't even seen most of the movies but yey for The Young Victoria for winning best costume :)

I liked Kate Winslet's dress but otherwise I think they were kinda boring...

What bugged me was that Michael Jackson was mentioned in the tribute even if he was a singer but they forgot Farrah Fawcett ?!

And was that horror movie thing really necessary? And since when has New Moon been horror movie?

Yeah, and how come they said the the horro genre had not won anything for over 30 years and yet they had clips from Silence of the Lambs which like, stormed the Oscars in the early 90's? From what I have heard there were a few mistakes made last night.

I also liked MoNique's nod to Hattie McDaniels (the first African American to ever be given an Oscar for Gone With the Wind... did you know the Academy wouldn't even let her attend the ceremony because she was black?), it was a really nice touch.

Horror at the writing/acting/everything else about it? :P

But yeah, I agree. If anything, they should have done a sci-fi montage. After all, two sci-fi movies got nominated for Best Picture...

I'm watching the highlights now - it's been pretty dull until now. Especially, because I know who's winning what! ;-) It seems that the gown-fashion is easy-to-fall-in floor-long this year... very clever, then the actresses don't need to worry about wearing high heels.

My highlight so far has been Mo'Nique when she was accepting her Oscar. It was so touching, and she gave a great speech even though she was so moved.
I was surprised that Precious didn't win more... Without having seen the movie I'd have thought the girl who plays Precious would win... something...

I liked how they presented Best Script and Best Adapted Screenplay with a bit of reading, and also the idea of presenting Best Score with bits of the music, though I'm not sure I liked the choreography.

Ohhh, and Colin Firth just presented An Education!!

Yay, for Denmark winning for Best Short Live Action Film - The New Tenants. I didn't even know it was nominated. :P

Now they're presenting Best Actor/Actress and they're having these people on stage to tell anecdotes about the nominees... hmm... not sure what to think about it.. I mean, it's really sweet and I'm sure they mean every word, but it just gets very repetitive...

Yeah, she gave a really good speech. I liked her dress as well.

^ I never saw it all... but WOW... James Cameron could have saved big bucks by hiring that make-up guy, it was fantastic!

I really hate that they don't put the Oscars online (do they even sell them?) Because I would love to own all the Oscars.

^I'd like an Oscar too... :P

What do you all think of the thing in the beginning with the ummm fluffy things... as a part of the umm.. funny thing about Avatar?
And was there other parodies that I missed because I only saw the highlights but are worth looking up on YouTube?

I think Kit means she would like to own all the Oscars on DVD or something. My brother has a few of them on video which he taped.

I do have an Oscar replica incindentally. Don't think it's the best quality though. :P
