I'm glad to hear there's a new challenge since I've just finished my entry for the first one. It's certainly not as glorious as Lor En Estel's, nor is it very song-like, but I felt inspired after rewatching FotR the other night, and decided I would finally have something to contribute.
I hope it counts despite it sounding more like a poem than anything else . . . Anyway, here is my ode to the sturdy and proud dwarves of Moria.
Fading Light
Where once was light now darkness falls,
The darkness dwells in Durin's halls.
We hold our axes, utter farewells,
All prepared to battle Hell.
We do not curse, we do not cry,
All of us prepared to die.
None of us allocate blame,
We prepare to deal the goblins pain.
Moria is not truly lost,
In our hearts spreads defeat's frost.
In this, our briefly reclaimed home,
We'll make our final stand alone.
The door comes down, the goblins swarm,
We know we'll never see the dawn.
And to the end do we all fight,
In Khazad-dûm's faint final light.
