I know we're all getting a little crazed about The Hobbit right now, but let's show some HP love. I remember when the OotP thread was at least a hundred pages long. I'm sure we've got just as much to discuss now.
And if you haven't watched the newest trailer [which is probably one of the most epic I've ever seen] then click on the link: LINK

Oh my! Now I am really excited! The scenes look fabulous and the music of this trailer was amazing!
I just hope that they won't make another big mistake by adding a scene which never occured in the book. (Like the Burrow burning down..)
What are your expectations Lar?

I flippin' cried when I watched the trailer... it was so intense and knowing all the scenes that they showed and what happened around them as well as this being the last film... well let's just say it was very emotional for me...
That brief look at Snape killed me, as well as Harry walking into the clearing... uggh.
ICAN'TWAIT!!!

^ Or they just want more money. I hope not, but such is the way with companies like WB.
I don't know what my expectations are, to be honest. I'd be completely happy if they would simply adapt every aspect of the book to the screen, but considering they haven't done that before I doubt we'll be seeing it now. My hopes are similar to yours, Will. The burrow scene was a huge mistake, even if it was sanctioned by JK Rowling [which I still find hard to believe]. In the end I think I want the film experience to be every bit as moving as I found reading the book to be. The trailer calls it "the motion picture event of a generation", and that's truly what it can be if they do things right.
And if that's asking too much then all I want is Snape. Please, please give me the Prince's Tale, and I will be content.
What about everyone else? Expectations? Fears? Other news?

I fear the same things everyone is fearing, that they are going to destroy the most poignant book in the series. There are a lot of stories to tell and although there are two movies I don't know how they are going to cohesively tell these stories as well as end the series the way the book did...
My heart is breaking just thinking about the end ><
Snape is a must though, if his tale is not told I will be quite upset, but such it was a very important bit in the book I don't think they will leave it out...
I expect though a wonderful film. I must remember that this is a film and not the book and so there are going to be things left out, forgotten, or changed and I have to be mentally prepared, otherwise I expect greatness in the final film!

Though, I don't think you all have to despair so much. The reason they split it into two movies is because there's so much from the book they had to use, they needed more than one movie. So they're planning on putting at least a lot in.
My hopes/expectations actually have nothing to do with the book at all. I want them to put Dumbledore's funeral in at the beginning and I want Harry to get the rest of the memories he needs. Because without those memories he doesn't know what to be looking for. So they had better clear that up.

That poster is currently my phone background! It is totally BAMF and makes me all giddy inside every time I watch it...
It also heightens my expectation of the epic battle of Hogwarts, although I have to wait till next summer for that I am sure

I had two reactions when I saw that poster. First, there has to be a LOT of fighting going on at Hogwarts for it to be damaged that much. I mean, compare it to the Philosopher's Stone poster from 10 years ago:
There's whole chunks of the building missing! This better be one BA fight.

OMG!!! I had not seen the trailer yet! It looks... AWESOME!!
I agree with a lot that has been said. Snape is a must in this one you need all the info on him by the end if not I am going to be sad. I am going to be sad anyway because Snape is my favourite and those of us who have read the books knows what happens but, yeah, anyway. I do hope they put in Dumbledor's funeral in the beginning, I was quite sad not seeing at the end of HBP. With it being in two parts I am hoping they will fit everything in. We will see though.

Deathly Hallows is in the latest edition of EW. Check it out here. But be careful, there are spoilers for the split on page 4. Didn't realise that when I looked [as I was in such a mad rush to see and read everything].

BILL NIGHY! That's going to be awesome. He's an amazing actor imo.
I enjoy the pictures... I want them in Hi-Res.

Definitely want them in high-res as well. As for Bill Nighy - what a shame his character dies so suddenly in this book. They should have cast him for the previous film . . .
Any thoughts on the split? It sounded a little lame at first, but now that I've gone back and read that section of the book I can see why they made the decision to put it there.

I am so behind on all the DH gossip. I don't want to spoil the movies and have been avoiding everything as much as I can...
I did come across pictures of the epilogue scene and started to cry The words from the book would keep coming to my head and I know I am going to be a mess when I actually watch the scene on screen...

Hmm.. I finished reading DH again yesterday and again I particularly didn't like the Epilogue. It seems just so awkward when 7 grand books have been written about Harry as a teenager to skip at the end 19 years and have him be a father. I don't know.. it just didn't fit. To me it seemed like a solution to JK so that she could finish the series for good..
