HALLOWFEST</center>
It's that time of year again and we have to get started on our annual tradition for the October holidays! (Although these aren't familiar with our members outside of the US - but if they weren't familiar with it 3 years ago, they certainly are now!)
THE WHAT | <b>The Hallowfest</b> is generally a week long to two week long community event where members of the forum dress up as a different identity (and when we say that, we mean your signature and avatar are changed to portray a 'persona'). In previous years, the event is set in "haunted" mansion of sorts, <b>but this year the Hallowfest takes place on a cruise in the midst of the Atlantic</b>. It'll still be properly "Halloween-y" themed, it'll just be on a cruise.
The plot/twist is that people end up dying! And everyone on the boat are suspects, so we have to figure out who the killer is before the cruise pulls into harbor or else the killer will get away (or we all end up dead).
In addition to the actual murder mystery, there maybe side events held such as themed contests and such.
THE WHERE | Every year the Club Sections hosts the Hallowfest (mainly because I've always considered Clubs my... ahem ... territory, as it were). This means all related roleplaying threads will be posted and stickied in the Club Section of the forum. Other related threads for contests and the like will be in their respected sections.
THE WHO | The amount of people who participates changes every year and this effects the number of people who get killed and how many formal guesses the group gets as a whole to figure out who the killer is. Unfortunately less and less members are around the forum year after year so it's likely that the Hallowfest will be tuned down to a week long event with only a few deaths and guesses. The Hallowfest encourages you to have an alias for the event, but this is completely optional, you don't have to change if you don't wish. If you do, remember to <b>change your avatar and signature at the start of the event, but please don't do it way ahead of time as the events of things will probably still be in the process of planning</b>. PLEASE PM ME YOUR ALIASES A HEAD OF TIME SO I CAN KEEP TRACK. This allows me to organize keep track of who everyone is.
<u>Everyone must PM me a profile of their character, whether under alias or not: these profiles will be posted as like a guest list "ID" card for references. Give a brief summary of your personality, your likes and dislikes and such. These can be used as clues or links or even evidence to accuse. Here is a profile layout to follow</u> -

** Make sure your profile is on the guest list at before the Hallowfest starts. If you RSVP'd and don't have your profile there, pm me! The killer is chosen <b>before</b> the event starts so if you come into the whole thing late, you've already given away that you are not the killer. If <i>you</i> would like to be the killer, sign up early!
THE HOW | During the two weeks, guests will come and go as with a regular roleplay, but there will be sudden deaths to some members. Members who have died will be given a ‘ghost status’ meaning their stars will be changed to silver and their rank will say “Ghost”. After a member dies, they will be pm’d a clue to their murder that they may reveal to the rest of the party as a ghost.
Outside the ghost, clues will be found and stated by three neutral parties, the host, the maid, and the butler. I (Kit), the host, cannot be the murderer, nor can my maid or my butler.
Participating members are allowed an X number of guesses to who the murderer may be during X-long event. This would require a spokesperson, a leader of the guests, so choose wisely. The spokesperson must make sure the majority of the participating guests agree to accuse a member. A guess will be made to the host and the host will either confirm or deny.
If the guests do guess correctly before Halloween, each will receive a “I solved the mystery of the 3rd annual Hallowfest” sig-set. If Halloween arrives and they do not guess the killer correctly, the killer will be revealed on Halloween and will be awarded a “I killed ____ people at the 2nd annual Hallowfest and got away with it” sig-set.

** Once I see the responses after a week or so, I'll put up the official length of the event. But it's very, very likely that it will run <b>October 23rd - October 31st</b>.
I love the idea of the Hallowfest taking place on a cruise, it reminds me of Poirot’s “Death on the Nile”.
