I feel as if there are two different me's and each one is wrestling for control," she whispered. "How can I just listen to one part of me and completely ignore the other?" she whispered as she looked at Gareth.

Darius sighed. "I don't know what they are going to do," he said softly. "If they don't let me stay then perhaps Calista or Gareth could help you get around," he suggested. "But we won't know until we go and talk to them," he remarked as he started to urge her back to the guestroom where Daniel, Calista and Gareth were.

"I-I just don't know if keeping Darius outside will be the best choice, that is all," Calista whispered.
"How can it not be the best choice? This place was not built to hold a monster! Plus it will keep some distance between the two of you."

Darius frowned when Rosalina said she re-twisted her ankle. "Of course you may ride me," Darius remarked as he knelt down and waited for Rosalina to mount him.

"Sir, perhaps you should let your daughter speak," Gareth interjected as he gently rubbed his hand along Calista's back as he felt her tense in his arms.
"It would be better for her to remain silent if all that she utters is pure foolishness," he remarked coolly as the woman bit her lip and averted her gaze.

Once she was safely on top of him, Darius walked toward the guest bedroom where he could hear Daniel sounding rather agitated about some matter. As he stepped into the room with Rosalina on his back, the old man fell silent as he glared at the unwanted intrusion of the dragon-lion creature.
Seeing Darius again in his true form caused unwanted memories of his terrible anger and nearly being clawed through the chest to come crashing down upon Calista again and she whimpered quietly before burying her face in the crook of Gareth's neck as she trembled in his arms. Holding her close, Gareth gently ran his fingers through her blonde hair before rubbing her back gently. "It's all right," he whispered softly in the woman's ear, hoping to give her a measure of courage as she quivered like a leaf barely clinging to a branch against the wind.
Sighing softly as he beheld the woman's fear, Darius just lowered his great head in shame and stared at the ground without making a comment.
"Here is all the proof I need," Daniel declared as he looked at Rosalina and Gareth. "He terrifies my daughter. I will not have him under this roof any longer."

Rosalina stiffened. "But without Darius, who will lead me until my sight returns?" she asked. She had not yet mentioned her improving sight to anyone but Darius. and she wasn't going to ask who would comfort her as she slept.

"There are others who can lead you," Daniel told Rosalina quietly. "Others that will not send my daughter into such paralyzing fear," he added.
Saying nothing as her father spoke, Calista just clung to Gareth for strength, not wanting to look Rosalina in the eyes and see the hurt that she guessed would be there. "Of this decision I am adamant in," Daniel added. "Your...creature... cannot remain here," he said sternly.

"Ro, you shouldn't have to do that," Darius told Rosalina softly, not wanting her to remain out in the elements with him.
"So be it then," Daniel remarked quietly.
"Father you can't!" Calista exclaimed, unable to remain silent any longer although she was still terrified of Darius.
"This home was not meant to shelter whatever the heck he is!" Daniel interjected.
"But they are our guests," Calista protested. "It would be wrong to cast them out and leave them at the mercy of the elements."
Smirking slightly, Gareth did not make a comment in the father/daughter exchange, proud of his lady for speaking up for what she thought was right.

Daniel just stared at Calista, some shock in his eyes. "Are you certain about this?" he asked her. "One minute you are trembling in fright and the next protesting that he should stay inside? I do not understand you sometimes, girl," he remarked with a shake of his head.
"Calista is only speaking as what she feels is right," Gareth remarked.
"Yes, I am afraid of him, father. But that is no reason to banish a guest."
"It is when the person who will suffer is my daughter."
