Rosalina woke with a start. "Cali?" She had thought she had heard her sister singing to her. "Cali?"

"Shh, my love," Catalina whispered as she gently cupped Gareth's face between her hands. "You have to let that go. Yes, I would have had a better chance at surviving if Darius did not take the job, but we do not know what might have happened. Do not let your anger rule your life, it will destroy you. And I could not bear to have that happen," she whispered before kissing him again.

As she moved to deeper waters, Calista's dress grew heavier as the material greedily lapped up the liquid all around her. Shivering from the cold, Calista just continued onward until the weight of her gown pulled her below the icy depths, a trail of bubbles coming from her lips as she sank toward the stream's floor while gazing up at the white light that seem to skip across the water's surface.

Rosalina left the room and called for her sister, looking every where she could think of.

Catalina sighed softly. "He will learn the hard way for his actions," she remarked quietly. "But as of now, Darius should not be your concern. Go now to Calista and tell her how you feel before it is too late," she told him, almost as if in warning.

Staring up at the shivering ball of white on the water's suface, Calista could feel her lungs burn for air, yet she did not even attempt to fight to survive. As she stared up into the sky, Calista saw the world darken before her as her blue eyes rolled back and her lashes fluttered close as the trail of bubbles from her mouth ceased to flow.

Gareth paled. "Why, whats happened." The panic in his voice was one he had not expressed in a long time, not since he was loosing Catalina.

Rosalina left the keep and looked around the lands when she saw the river, but it was the bubles that drew her attention. Going to the edge she looked in and screamed.

"The river, Gareth. Go to the river. Farewell, beloved. Go now to your new love before it is too late," Catalina warned once more before her image faded from his dreams.

Hearing Rosalina scream Darius raced toward the direction of the river. "Ro, love, what is it?" he asked as he rushed up to her.

Gareth woke with a start. He didn't have time to morn his wife left his dreams. He ran out and to the river.

Rosalina didn't look at Darius. "CALI!!!!!" She ran to jump into the water.

Reaching Rosalina just as she started to run to the river, Darius grabbed and held her tightly against him. "No!" he shouted. "It's too dangerous," he yelled, refusing to let her go. Glancing down into the river he could just make out Calista's pale face and her blonde hair that seemed to shroud her in a golden veil of death as she lay lifelessly at the bottom of the river.

Rosalina tried to get free. "I have to save her. I have to!!!"

Gareth didn't think, he tore off his boots and and outer wear before diving going inot the cold river, swimming to the bottom, grabbing Calista and returning her to shore.

Rosalina watched in horror. "Why, why would she do this, why?"

Calista just remained limp in Gareth's arms as he grabbed her and then carried her to shore, her face deathly pale. Not a single breath passed from her lips nor was there a single beat of her blood, as she lay dead to the world.
Darius just watched the scene with horror written on his face, his strong hate for the woman suddenly melting now that she may actually be dead. Unable to look at Rosalina he could only stare at the ground as he felt the guilt start to gnaw at his gut.

Rosalina started cry out, trying to get free of Darius's arms so she could go to her sister.

Gareth knew he had to act so he started CPR.

"No, stay here." Darius told her. "You will only get in the way," he added as he watched Gareth perform CPR on Calista.

Gareth pushed on her chest and performed mouth to mouth. "Come on." He said, begged. "Come on, don't let me be to late."

Darius averted his gaze as Rosalina pleaded with him for a reason. "It's--it's because of me," Darius mumbled unable to look his love in the eyes.

Darius said nothing for a few minutes, hardly able to form the words now. "I said some things to her that I probably shouldn't have said..." he said softly.

Calista still remained lifeless on the ground, hearing and feeling nothing of what was going on around her.
