"No," Gareth remarked as he worked on the the elixir. "This mess is his own fault. I don't know what he said to Calista, but I know the result of it," he remarked coldly. "And I don't think I can ever forgive him for it," he muttered as he tossed the crushed herbs into the boiling water.

Gareth sighed at the younger woman's words. "And it is only for Calista's sake and yours that I am helping him now," the mage remarked. "I can see how much your sister loves you and would not want you to be under any emotional duress---even if that means living with the man who inflicted more hurt on her already wounded heart that she would want to take her own life," Gareth added. "I would not help him of my own choosing. A friend I considered him, until he betrayed me. Take care he does not do the same to you." With that being said, Gareth scooped some of the brew out of the pot before handling the cup to Rosalina. "Give him this. It should stop the poison but he will be weak for awhile."

Darius still did not drink and was now scarcely breathing. "Try tilting his head back and slowly pouring the liquid down his throat," Gareth finally suggested.

Darius just remained motionless on the bed. His face was still pale and his breathing labored but his fever was starting to break now that the elixir flowed through his blood.
