I've also just recently read that Disney is making budget cuts on the film, but Terry Rossio claims it isn't true; I'm trusting him on this one since he knows everything that's going on with OST, and so I really hope there won't be any actual cuts made to anything...
The only American-ish stuff I've seen from Tom Hollander is PotC and Pride & Prejudice, but nothing much else other than projects I've discovered via Youtube. If it weren't for PotC, I never even would have known he existed, but maybe that's just me being ignorant... I don't pay much attention to "foreign" things, here having the meaning of non-American, and thus I haven't seen much of his. Ha ha, really? It seems kind of strange that they would all be in a movie together right after AWE - weird coincidence, maybe? Nah. I think it was destined to be. I will have to see this movie when I get the chance. *eager nod*
Right, I agree that Will was as much of a major character as Jack, even if his role was slightly overshadowed at points; I just wonder if Sam Claflin can manage to live up to Orlando and be just as good (but personally I don't think anyone will ever be better than Orlando when it comes to the role of Jack's "sidekick" so to speak ) I know I'm going to be sitting there like, "Where's Will? Or Ragetti and Pintel...?" It's just going to be so hard to process that they actually aren't there anymore; really sad to think about.
Hmm, I've never seen any of the Zorro films; perhaps I'll look up some of her bits on Youtube an get back to you on that... [On an RP note, I think her fiery spanish temper will match that of Vari's, so I'm partially excited because it's almost going to be like seeing my OC on screen - that is if Penelope plays her character right ] But anyway, I'm also wondering how Syrena the mermaid ties into all of this - it will be interesting to see how each character makes their appearance; after all, first impressions are everything...
Yes, I hope they don't just do to P&R what they did to Anamaria in the first movie, and just completely made her disappear without so much as the mention of her name in DMC... and in my opinion I thought she was a big part of CotBP in her own way... I dunno, I wish they would update on the charries so that we didn't have to try and guess where they've gone.
Ugh, Miranda.. don't even get me started on her or I'll be here ranting about my deep-seated hatred for her for hours on end... Orlando has lost his mind if he's choosing her over the opportunity for more money, to be honest. I think she's messing with his head - it's brainwashing, I'm convinced. Yeah well, if they do end up married [please Lord do not allow that to happen] he'll probably divorce her in no time, as what happens with most other Hollywood marriages.
Of course, I don't understand why it seems as though the cast of PotC just didn't befriend each other as they did with LotR...? I personally believe it might be because some of the actors feel too "good" for other people; a bit of conceit on their behalf. But this might not be the case, I'm just stating what I think might be the reason. Well, whatever the issues are, the bottom line is OST is going to be so much different from anything we're used to, and of course that will be both good and bad.
I'm quite eager for more news, however; I love stalking the movie's progress and I can't wait for some mild spoilers to arrive... after which I will steer clear of the big ones until Pandora, Lothy & I have actually seen the movie.
Oh well, still a year to wait and I already wish it were this time next year so we could be getting amped up and actually have some trailers to watch, know more of the plot, ect... I'm just too impatient for something as big as this. But hopefully the release of the PS3 game, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned will help quench some of the PotC thrist.

completely missed your post until now... BAD TIEMS D:
I hope budget cuts aren't true, I can't imagine what PotC would look like without the flashy CGI, it would kinda eeh without the weird monsters and computer creations.
I think PotC was TH's biggest role and made him a recognisable figure I'm completely the same with American things xD Appart from the really really big stars or the people who've been in the really big series like Friends, Heroes, Buffy and Lost I'm pretty much ignorant to US acting talent. I'm so nationalistic as most of my fav British actors I like more because I think they are incredible talents, whilst Most US actors I like more because they're pretty looking xD. Tehehe it was really odd, I just spent the first half hour or so ticking off the PotC cast members. I guess its not that weird that they were all in it together, but its probably to do with that Hollywood tradition of the English guys playing Nazis/bad guys, whilst the American (Tom Cruise) plays the Hero. And most of the secondary cast of PotC were top notch British acting talents (and cause of PotC familiar to an American audience, making the film appal to more) so they were more or less obvious choices
I disagree slightly, I think Will was the main character, CotBP was about him, his blood, and even all the Elizabeth stuff was basically about Will. I always thought, and still think that he wasn't Jack's sidekick, more like Jack was a sort of mentor or teacher figure( albeit a hilarious one with his own motives) who was not the main character but a sort of plot twist. DMC and AWE were slightly different, but Will was pretty much the main character, I think thats partly why I'm kinda worried about the Jack centric story line, as in the first trilogy Jack's story always was secondary to Will (and elizabeth boo). I also think it'll be interesting to see what the new actors are going to be like, apart from Penelope I'm not really familiar with any of them. I think that's gonna change what the dynamic of the film is like, because CotBP seemed like they had pretty much an "all star" cast what with Geoffery, Johnny, Orlando and Jack, then they roped in Bill Nighy, Tom and Skellan for 2 and Keith Richards and Yun Fat Chow for 3, this time round it seems more like Johnny and Penelope are the big stars, surrounded by unknowns rather than the big spectacle cast of the other 3, it could work out really well, but its still gonna make it seem like a different film, and yet again i'm gonna have to say I'm going to miss Will, P&R, Norrington and Beckett SO MUCH D:
The Anamaria thing was Odd, I guess we were meant to think she got her ship that Jack owed her and Sailed off, it would have been nice for them to tie that up either at the end of PotC or as a mention in DMC, because it did seem she was a crew member rather than just in the whole thing to get a new ship. I hope P&R aren't just abandoned like that. I don't know why but I'm already thinking that they've some how found some treasure and they're living together like a weird married couple that they sort of are with tons of riches on an island or something lol xD.
Haha I don't think that she's the reason he's not doing PotC, but the Daily Mail and several other trashy celeb things did try and spin it, but no one actually believed it. I think the press are always desperate to marry Orlando off, I can't remember the amount of times I saw rumours that he was gonna marry Kate(ew), and it looks like this is just another false "OMG Orlando's getting married" story". I don't know what I think of Miranda, I think she's way way way way more likeable ( and prettier) than Kate B* tchworth (thank god that ended!!), and she does seem the kind of veggie, hippy, eco warrior type like Orli is. I can think of a lot of other actresses, singers and models who are more unbearable than Miranda. But yeah I'd still rather he married ME than her .
Hehe I want it to come too (though I'm probably more excited for the Hobbit and Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader more), I do kinda hate all of the speculative talk that goes on before there's a teaser trailer or anything like that, its not fair *pout*
Gah I don't have a PS3, lol but I got the 2 PotC PS2 games 2 weeks ago. I'm determined not to play them until exams are over, otherwise I'd just waste all day on them rather than doing revision of dull stuff xD.
Lol how long is this post?!

NEWS ~ Megan Fox is reported to sign onto POTC 4 as a mermaid with "dark" intentions...
http://wireupdate.com/entertainment/002 ... an-sequel/
Personally I'm not a big fan of her - I think guys go nuts over her for no reason... in my opinion she's not even pretty. So I hope these are just more rumors because I don't think she'd fit too well into "On Stranger Tides". And even if they do choose her, I hope she's got a teeny-tiny role to play... because I don't think I'd want to sit there for the whole two hours and watch her do whatever.

That one also caught me off guard; I've no idea what's to come with this but I'm sure it will be good nevertheless.
Also, Penelope Cruz's character, Angelica, has been confirmed and pictures of her in costume on set have surfaced throughout the internet, I'm sure you lot have probably already seen them by now.
I haven't heard anything else about Megan Fox though, so I think it's safe to say she WON'T be in this film (Thank you lord!)

So yay! Gemma Ward will be playing as a mermaid! There, as soon as I see that, I can die happy.

I feel like I'm kinda randomly butting in here since I don't really know too much about this film [I sort of stopped following the franchise once the trilogy ended], but I'm actually really excited about this film. If it turns out to have some sappy romance between Jack Sparrow and what's-her-name Blackbeard's daughter then I will be thoroughly disappointed. Also, is it odd that I'm sort of excited there's going to be an adorable Sam Claflin playing an equally adorable missionary. For some reason, after reading Jane Eyre, I have some sort of obsession with missionaries. [Darn you, St. John Rivers!]

^ But it IS coming out in mid-May...leastways IMDb says the US release date is May 20th Unless it's been changed...? It's true that there's surprisingly little hype right now. I'm planning on seeing it, but I'll know far less about it going in than any of the previous Pirates movies Just that Johnny and Geoffrey are basically the only original cast members returning (...I think?), Penelope Cruz is in it, there are mermaids...yeah, that about covers it It still seems like just yesterday that I found out in horror that they WERE making a fourth movie! I'm so behind the times. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be an entertaining romp if nothing beyond that

10 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Strange... imdb is saying that it will be released in the UK on the 18th but cineworld is saying the 20th.. Hmmm... I haven't got hyped up about it. Mainly because it's released right in the middle of my exams. I will go see it when my exams are over so either on the 26th or 27th depending on my friends... Just looking on imdb... Judi Dench is listed as cast but it doesn't say what character she's playing? Can't wait to see Richard Griffiths! (He's playing King George II.) I'm not going to list all his awesome films (well.. History Boys anyone? ) but if any of you guys don't know who he is.. He plays Vernon Dursley in the HP films. And they've got this guy back!!! I LOVE him.. "That's got to be the best pirate I've ever see." "Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?" I'm glad that he survived the destruction of the Endeavour. Ooo.. And Mark Smith!! He was in the BBC's Robin Hood. I should stop getting excited about this... I need to focus on revising not pirates..

^I LOVE THAT GUY You're making me excited about seeing this film, Hravan. And that's actually quite an accomplishment, because I feel like this film is a bit of a waste, actually. But it has good actors, so I guess I'll be watching it

But mid-May is supposed to be.. the middle of May.. as in May 15th - or perhaps the 16th or 14th.. but that's it!! May 20th.. that's... late May!! At least in my excited-for-PotC-book. Alright, then.. seems like we're getting it on May 19th here.. I suppose it's alright then... and again I still do not understand why the world hasn't gone completely mad as it should about Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane on the same movie reel!! I never was an Orli/Keira fangirl so I'll do fine without that storyline (in fact you may say I can live quite comfortably indeed ) so I'm really excited for Johnny Depp.. I just hope that they give him well-written characters he can play ball with. It's in the lone, mad dude role and the contrast to.. ehh.. normality? Jack Sparrow shines. I know Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane got it but I really hope the script writers don't ruin the female lead and make her the typical hysterical, shouty-yelling Mary Sue character who end up falling madly in love with and tamed by the dashing Jack Sparrow and just because it's Penelope Cruz and she's a Spanish femme fatale. Seriously, I'll cry and claim to get my money back if they do!

I agree with Ea.
Giving Captain Jack Sparrow a romantic lead sounds about as safe as handing a plucky Elven maid to Legolas. It screams self-insert Mary Sue to me. Hopefully that's not the case but it's been my past experience that hopes tend to lead to greater let-downs.
