^I always thought that was to fool the Silents. So they wouldn't know the Doctor &Co and a plan to destroy them.

What do you guys think about "The Doctor's Wife"? It's my favorite so far, hands down. Such an unexpected twist :D

That was the impression I got about that whole sequence, too- they were trying to trick the Silence so they wouldn't know they were planning to get rid of them. Even so, before Canton locked the door, released the Doctor, and let everyone out of their body bags, I was like, "Wait a minute, WHAT =\?! What's going on here? Do the Silents have control over Canton, or something? Is that why he's chasing everyone down and killing them =/?" It was an excellent mind-screw, that's for darn sure :-D! Well done, Mr. Moffat, well done 8). *Applauds*

I absolutely loved "The Doctor's Wife" :jump:! My favorite ep so far this season, and also the best, IMO 8). One of the last three before the hiatus might eventually bump it down a spot (or two), but right now, it tops my list of fave S6 episodes . Making a whole episode about the Doctor talking to and interacting with a human version of the TARDIS is the best idea a "New Who" writer has come up with EVER :-D! This was the mind of Neil Gaiman at work, though, so I suppose we should have expected something brilliant from him . *Ponders* Still, I don't think I had the faintest idea how AWESOME an episode penned by him would actually be ! A note to Mr. Moffat: "PLEASE have Neil Gaiman write more episodes for you in the future =)!" *Nods enthusiastically*

^Yeah, Steven Moffat certainly screwed my mind up. I join you in the applause! :notworthy:

Yes, The Doctor's Wife was awesome! I really thought that Matt Smith really kicked it up with the emotion/madness. And when they played 'The Mad Man with a Box' at the end, I kept going, "Yes! Yes! This is SO cool!" Yeah, I'm a soundtrack geek. :p But seriously, Murray Gold has really done it with the music, like he does every season. Oh, when Rory was all psychotic and creeping Amy out was scary! Just the kind of thing Neil Gaiman would come up with. And it seems like Amy cries almost every episode. . .

I just loved how everyone was saying how the Doctor's wife obviously had to be River, and that the woman in the pictures must've been a different regeneration of her, but then NO, it's the TARDIS :D

And the tiny little "I love you" at the end broke my heart. All around a lovely and beautiful and scary and awesome episode!

One thing though: Old Rory says something like "2000 years I waited for you, and then you did it again!" People seem to take this to mean that Rory waited another 2000 years, but I understood it as him saying that she made him wait 2000 years for her and then she left him to grow old while waiting for her once again. Thoughts?

The way I saw it was that Rory was left waiting for him until he got old and delirious.

I loved this episode. So much! Btw, did anyone get the impression that the TARDIS!girl was similar to Helena Bonham Carter?

I didn't think about it when I watched, but now you say it she really is. Both in looks and in behavior :)

Omg, you're right! I had the feeling while I was watching it that she seemed vaguely familiar, and Helen Bonham Carter was who I was thinking of.

I loved this episode too. I didn't think it was quite as good as the first two episodes of the series, but it was still awesome.

I loved loved *loved* that they gave the TARDIS a corporeal form and a voice. At first I was a bit unsure as to wether or not I liked her being portrayed as an erratic personality. I thought she should have acted...what's the best way to describe it?...like glowy eyes Rose after she looked into the heart of the TARDIS. You know, all mystic and wise and powerful and such. But then when I thought about it, I realized that the TARDIS even more bat poo crazy then the Doctor, and on top of that she's an inter-dimensional being who can travel through time and space and she's been stuffed into a human mind. Its like wearing a glove on your foot. Of course she's going to act a bit oddly.

After I came to that realization, I loved how she was portrayed. I just wish that she and the Doctor had more time to talk. I feel like the greatest bulk of their conversation was them introducing themselves and just getting used to each other. I would have enjoyed watching them have a couple larger conversations.

As for what Rory said, I took it to mean that he was blaming her for leaving him *again*, as apposed to him waiting 2000 years more.

Btw, has anyone else noticed how many times Rory has "died"? Sure, none of them have really stuck, but it just seems like the writers are killing him left and right.

Harthad- Good to know I wasn't the only one who had a, "What the heck is going on ?!" feeling during that part 8).

My liking of Matt's portrayal of the Doctor was cemented in "The Pandorica Opens"/"The Big Bang", but he did, you're right .

Nothing wrong with that :].

Yeah, that creeped me out, too :hide:. It was sad as well, though :(. But again, something being scary and sad at the same time (or, at least one type of moment following the other in close proximity) is a Neil Gaiman hallmark .

Hehe, in this season only, or in both this one and the previous one 8)?

Anameleth- Hehe, I know 8). It's a very appropriate identity to give her, actually, since they've been together for so long and shared so much .

Yes it was, yes it was :).
That's what I think he meant, too .

Nauriel Rochnur- Yeah :]? I was good with it from the start. It just seemed right, I guess, that the Doctor and his TARDIS had similar personalities . I see what you mean, though . And the combination of all those things you mentioned did help her wacky personality make more sense :].

What did you guys think of tonight's episode? I personally liked it 8). And what a way to end it =D! I can't wait to see what having a "Ganger" Doctor throws into the mix =)!

I only just finished watching it. Can't wait for tomorrow! Doctor Who and Game of Thrones on the same day :D
Anyway, I thought today's episode was quite good. I didn't quite understand how those ganger things came to be, but that's okay. I loved how Rory completely understood how that ganger girl (Can't believe I've forgotten her name already >.<) felt. I mean, he's sorta gone through the same thing, right?
I hope the ganger Doctor turns out to be a nice guy :)

What's up with the way it comes on now with Amy talking about the Doctor being her imaginary friend. I hate that.

Welcome to the club :)
I can only assume you're talking about some kind of intro on the TV, so I'm afraid I can't comment on that, as I've only ever seen it online. It's one of those sad consequences of living outside the UK and US...

EDIT: Okay, scratch that. I have things to say about it after all :teehee:
I think it's quite natural for Amy to be calling the Doctor her imaginary friend. I mean, he fell out of the sky when she was a child, stayed for something like an hour, promised to come back in five minutes, and then vanished for twelve years. Amy, and everyone around her, must've thought she was completely barking mad for believing he was real. And then he comes back! Isn't it natural for Amy to still think of him as her imaginary friend, even though he's back and very much real? She must still be carrying some of that hurt and confusion with her, right?

I agree that that may be true and I understand how she could feel that way. I just don't know why we have to see it ever episode. I wonder if the Doctor clone is a Timelord. If the clones are human like the Doctor says then why do they look all white with no noses?

The US shows a short clip right before the credits that basically summarizes meeting Amy, and she says he's her imaginary friend. I can only assume it's trying to help the poor people who've never seen it. :eyeroll:

Haha that would explain it. I suppose I should be happy I watch it online then ;)

@Timelord: I think the Doctor said something about how they're swapping between human pure flesh, that somehow they haven't accepted that they're the person they look like, with the memories and all that. That one girl became completely human, you know, but then when she felt betrayed she changed back, like she chose not to be the human girl. If that makes sense at all...
