That would definitely work. Because that way new members would know it was there. Otherwise I'm afraid it would just be forgotten about, and then it'd be pointless.

There's no point in adding to their work if there's an easier solution.

Again, I'm being rather redundant (and late) in saying I agree to Eru's (new) suggestion and that it looks fine with putting info on the sub-forum on the board index. Thanks for your concern. Once the changes are made we will put up an announcement and I'm sure people who haven't been a part of this particular topic will soon know their way. Moving topics and keeping things tidy on the board was a part of the job discription that all of us new mods agreed to but with such a great community there isn't much work to do in that area because we've got so many oldies to lead the way for new members.

What I meant was that if there a solution so simple as to write that there is a hidden sub-forum, there's no use in relying on people getting to know about it through your moving threads there. While it may be part of your job description to move threads, that doesn't mean we want people to post in the wrong sub-forums

I like it, Eru. Let's go for it.

Love the suggestion, Eru. I think we should go with it! [I especially like the fact that it puts the Actors forum into a tidy place. That forum in particular has always bothered me for some reason. ]

Cheers guys! Seems kind of unanimous then. Who has the power (besides Arweb) to change it?

^I believe only Arweb has the power at the moment, I don't think she has given other people access to the forum stuff because it hasn't been needed... By the way, I was thinking.. can everything in Elrond's Library be hidden sub-forums? Since there wouldn't be anything active there, people would only go there for reference or for nostalgia. Elrond's Library - Archive section for inactive sub-forums and threads that we don't want to delete. The Tower of Ecthelion (Member Awards) A-U Revival 2011 - When revival is complete, this section could go here as well! The Forbidden Pool (Thread Archive)

So, does that mean that the member awards aren't going to go on anymore, if they're under the archived section? By the way, I think that the forum as you want is fine.

Well, there haven't been member awards for a few years now. But one can always hope we'll have them again in the future

Just wait till all the newbie mods get their footing around this place and till everyone gets their footing after all this revival business, and then I think we can think about Member Awards again.

Hey, sorry for being MIA for a while! I promise it wasn't a semi-permanent disappearance like last time Anyway, congrats on getting the organisation all sorted - very proud of you guys (Wow, I sound like a mother hen...but seriously, great job on figuring it all out!) So, based on Eru's last summary of the changes that needed to be made, I've reorganised everything. Let me know if this is what you all had in mind and if you think anything needs tweaking! The only things I was unsure about were... 1) Belfalas, the old LotR-actors'-movies section. I had a feeling that moving it to Mirrormere would just get confusing, but I didn't want to toss all the threads, so right now it's a subforum under LotR & Hobbit Actor Discussion until we decide what to do with the threads. 2) ...speaking of which, the list had Dol Guldur listed twice, once for LotR Actors and once for non-LotR Actors, so I kept Mirkwood as the LotR board name and Dol Guldur for the non-LotR name. Good? Change it? Suggestions? I think that was it, really...now we just need to decide what to archive and stuff.

Hiya, welcome back, mother... hen! Oh, wow, it's not like the forum got any slimmer with the re-organisation but hopefully a little.. easier to navigate perhaps and maybe it helps promoting the forums with most activity... Umm.. yeah, I've gotta admit it's a little overwhelming at the moment.. but there's always the option of 'hiding' more of the sub-forums to have an easier overview... If that's what we want. I think 1) and 2) are good as they are, but can you hide the sub-forums on the index page so it just says (and same with the other sub-forums): Mirkwood (LotR & Hobbit Actor Discussion) Sub-forum: Belfalas (The actors movies) Thanks for changing the skin colour.. methinks it's time for a sig change..

Oh, sure! I misunderstand and thought you all had decided that you didn't want the subforums to be visible at all on the index, but now I get what you were saying... *wanders off to fix this*
