To be honest, I didn't like the first Sherlock Holmes movie. The RDJ!Holmes was too far from the book Holmes, it was not the REAL Holmes. So I am not very excited about new one...

I'm a shamless RDJ fangirl, so I can't wait I've only read Hound of the Baskerville's and am not really a Holmes purist plus compared to other adaptations I've seen it's quite obviously "Hollywood does Sherlock Holmes" but I found the first film entertaining all the same

And it seems even more awesome that Noomi Rapace and Stephen Fry are going to be in it too.

I am growling at Holmes/Watson relation. I didn't like it. Also, RDJ Holmes was too adventurous for book Holmes. In books he was more stable, more...gentleman. He was not the Indiana Jones.

Actually, I think that RDJ captured a side of Holmes that often goes unnoticed, most of the Holmes depictions do have him pictured as a gentleman all the time. Actually Holmes definitely had his moments of drug addiction (which annoyed Watson to death), he could at times neglect basic hygiene when he was working on a case, and Holmes was adventurous. He was an excellent boxer and swordsman, which I was pleased to see they put those characteristics into the movie. He also chased down criminals and was not afraid to fight with them when he caught them. So he had his moments, they just sadly go overlooked, until now that is. And I love how they took direct quotes from the stories! Made the movie even more fun for Holmes freaks like me! I can't wait to see Moriarty, but I'm also nervous! He's one bad guy, thats for sure, the only one to give Holmes a run for his money! Not sure why they need another female character, the alteration of Adler's character was slightly irritatin to me, but it worked alright, but another female character? They can't do much for romance in the Holmes department.

^ Agreed, Jeremy Brett is superb as Holmes. Loved his portrayal of the character.

And I know! I didn't like that much either, he is way to awesome to let someone make him look like a fool. Hopefully, if this new female character is supposed to be a romantic interest for Holmes (though hopefully not) she at least doesn't make him look like a lovesick teenager.

Was really glad to see this. Thoroughly enjoyed the first movie. I liked RDJ's portrayal of Holmes. Very entertaining. Excited to see this.

I still see Holmes as this gentleman, even if I know that Holmes were actually fighting and had adventures. I mean, its Jeremy Brett who is real Holmes for me. I was growing watching Brett as Holmes and he was closest to the book imagery that I had always in mind. I don't like the older Holmes movies, they are too close-minded, but Brett is for me perfect Holmes. And something that so muchly goes away from Brett's portrayal as RDJ, seems for me...wrong.

^ Jeremy Brett is fantastic as Holmes, I totally agree. I like both actors portrayals of the character, each actor brought out specific quirks about the character that I love. Probably because when I pictured Holmes in my mind, I saw aspects that both actors showed. What I like about RDJ's depiction is while it is something very different than people are used to seein, he still stays true to Holmes random behaviors in the book, he just left out some of the more gentlemanly parts to the character. Thats why my stamp of approval is on the movie, and my approval is VERY hard to get when it comes to Holmes. I'm very picky. But I agree, Jeremy Brett was amazing as Holmes.

In my excitement I just tried to make a Holmes banner....it didn't turn out so well. I'm either going to have to play around some more and figure out how to make one or give up and look one up online, lol. Oh, supposedly there's a trailer for Holmes 2 before the second part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.
