That woman is actually a gypsy fortune teller that's dragged along with Holmes and Watson for the ride. To be honest, I really do not care for her simply because I actually liked McAdams' Irene Alder and I didn't really want to see a new female character.

Yeah, I think that main bad guy is going to be Moriarty, and if my hunch is correct they leave London behind because it looks like they might take a few ideas from the story called 'The Final Problem'. If you haven't read it you ought to, it'll explain why Moriarty is a big problem for Holmes. And not liking the short clip of what appears to be the gypsy girl kissing my Holmes...er, I mean Holmes. Holmes and romance just dont mix. But I was so excited when I saw this trailer, I was literally bouncin around, that is after I started blinking and breathin again. I can't wait!! And my banner efforts have not gone well at all, thinkin i will just give up...

Well the fact that it is set outside of London makes it all the more intriguing as it shows the villain is far more threatening. Of course, after trying to take over the world, whatever Moriarty has planned is going to pale. But I think it's more of a battle of wits like Batman and the Riddler. Blackwood was really simple and while his plans were good, they weren't exactly rocket science.

@Lith. Are you saying Holmes and romance don't mix or Holmes and romance with anyone not you don't mix? I do agree Holmes and romance do not mix. He really is married to his job and honestly there really is no need for him to have a romantic interest.

Yes, they do have JB version of that story, it was very good. Kept me on the edge of my seat and made me very sad at the end. Its killin me that I cant say what I want about it, in case people dont know the story, I dont want to give anythin away in case the movie does follow it.


When talking about RDJ's Holmes, romance with anyone but me doesn't mix! When talking about Holmes in general, he didn't have a significant other in the stories, the closest he came to showing interest in a woman was with Irene Adler, and that was a very slight interest that could have been interpreted more as respect rather than a romantic interest. I agree with you, no reason for him to have a romantic interest!

Well most respectable directors nowadays when confronted with a popular franchise usually do movies in trilogies so that doesn't surprise me.

In my opinion, I think they started out way way way way way way too ambitious. Had it been the first one been an extended CSI episode or the like, then they could do the escalation rather well. But like we said, once you get to trying to take over the British Empire in the first movie....where do you go?

I dont know, I'm really interested to see where they'll go with it. Moriarty is the 'Napoleon of crime', as Holmes described him. The only criminal to truly keep Holmes on his toes, and almost killed Holmes as well. They'll obviously play off the the fact that Moriarty took a piece of that machine in the first movie, and to me it looks like they may be tossing in some parts from 'The Final Problem' story. I've tried searching for the plot, but all I've been able to find is that Holmes and Watson face off against Moriarty.

I loved the first Sherlock Holmes movie and I cannot wait for this one. Posters and trailers look AWESOME. I love Robert Downey Jr, he's fantastic at anything he does. I'm also a big Noomi Rapace fan (yay for more Swedes in Hollywood!) so I'm looking forward to seeing what she'll bring to the film.

Went to see Harry Potter again today [what's new? ], and I was able to better scrutinise the trailer for Sherlock 2 than I did the first time round. It looks epic, and I absolutely love Jude Law and RDJ, but I'm a bit confused as to the timeline of this film. Considering there are people here who obviously love these movies more than I do perhaps you'll be able to answer my question. As I recall in the first film Watson is set to get married by the end, and I was under the impression that before the last scene some amount of time had passed in which he did marry what's-her-name [oh, I wish I remembered!], but this newest trailer suggests otherwise. A little help? I seem to be lost in the chronology of these films.
