The elf stopped and turned. "The Vampyr. A demon who takes the lives of the living by sucking their blood. Immortal, the Vampyr lives forever," she paused "The Vampyr can also bite other people, sucking their blood to the point of death, then giving them a taste of his blood, he turns them into one of his own kind. When a Vampyr sets his sights on something, he will not stop or falter until he has it."

Her words troubled him, immortal? He was an elf anyway so he assumed no difference there. He lived forever? Niko could not deny such a thing tempted him, ever so slightly.
''Would you be so kind as to skip to the method of killing, said vampyr?'' he said gruffly but not unkindly.

''Very well then. It seems we are in need of an ash tree, do you know of any? ''
He paused then voiced another question.
''What do you know of Dante's history? Why might he be intent on pursuing say a woman?''
His grip tightened on Nienna as he spoke, feeling her move closer to him.

"Aye. When he was turned, he killed his wife, not being able to control the Vampyr beast that had taken over. He would now be seeking a mate to turn into a Vampyre."she looked to Nienna "She looked like you." she then turned at a shout "I must help attend the guards. He attacked them." she turned and was gone, leaving a shocked Nienna.

''Well, my dear half elven queen, you may have your chance to become a vampyr.''
He found himself curious. Was there any way for them to walk in the sun?
Niko was intimidated, but he would not let her see it.
''Do not worry, angel. No one shall have you in that way but I''

"I would never become that creature." she held him tightly, hearing his words and taking comfort from them. What were they to do against such a force? "I'm frightened..." she buried her face in his chest. "What can we do?"

''You have your magic'' he said. If they could just get that wood they needed, they may be in with a chance.
''If you could weaken him I could be able to finish him off'' He said, a plan beginning to form in his mind. It was simple. Lure him to Nienna, have her weaken him, and kill him. Easier said than done.

"What?" she didn't know that her magic would work against him. She didn't want to do this. She was too scared. "I don't know..." she looked at the stairs, longing for the safety of their room and the comfort of him laying next to her. "I don't want to think about it right now.."

''I'm sorry, love. But we don't have a choice. We need to be prepared.''
He led her upstairs to their bedroom, seeing the first rays of morning light peek through the window. The night had passed already? He had a feeling that tonight Dante would appear again, more dangerous than before. They needed that wood as soon as possible.
Her comfort was his priority for now. They had all day to prepare. Setting her on his lap he began to rock her gently and rub her back, as he always did when she was troubled and he wanted her to relax.

She began to tremble as her adrenaline wore off. "he was so evil." she turned into him, clutching to him. She was still afraid. "Stay with me, don't let him touch me again..." she sobbed out. Her head was killing her where he had grabbed her hair.

''Do not worry, angel. He did not take you earlier, he will not take you at all''
He kissed her lips, trying to lend her his strength and comfort. He pulled a blanket over her and continued to rock her.
''You may sleep if you wish. I am right here beside you''

She curled into him, shaking still. She felt almost like a child in his lap. Yet she did soon start to feel sleepy. "Don't...let him..." she whispered before she fell fast asleep, her dreams were troubled.

He kissed her cheek as she fell asleep. He sat there, holding her a she slept. Before long he heard soft footsteps, he looked up and there stood the elf that had spoken to them the night before.
He let out a sigh of relief. How did people keep getting in?
She saw Nienna sleeping and kept quiet, and handed him something in a box. He opened it and saw a sharp stake, made with what he assumed was wood from the ash tree she spoke of.
''He will return tonight.'' she muttered, before leaving, locking the door behind her.
Niko sat, cradling Nienna, his thoughts on what lay ahead.

Nienna stirred as her dreams became more troubled, filled with blood, visions of Niko dead, of the creature on top of her...her breathing became labored in her sleep and she began to thrash, trying to get away.

Niko sat with her for a while, until she began moving, as if to escape him.
''Nienna, you are safe. You are-'' His words were cut off as her loose hand went flailing to his lip, drawing blood.
He held her hands down and tried to wake her.
''Angel, wake up. You are safe.''
