~Really?
_____________

Morohtar peered at the guards as they walked back and forth. There eyes danced around eagerly, intent upon catching the intruders first. Morohtar's lips pressed into a tight line. "This may be harder than I thought..." He glanced to Lairiel who seemed to have found a hole in the guard. He moved closer to her. "We shall need to be quick." He crouched, poised for action.

______________

Durion finished his meal and pushed his plate to the side. "I have some business to attend to, Holly. I won't be long." He leaned down and kissed her cheek before disappearing out the room and down the stairs. Holly eyed the guards by the door. Clink The final piece of chain broke and fell to the floor. The guards charged her. Holly was up and out of her chair in the next second. With a flick of her wrist, the guards were knocked sideways. Their bodies slammed into the opposite walls with an almighty crack. Their bodies slinked to the ground, dead. Holly grimaced, but had no time to mourn or think about what she had done. She hitched up the dress Durion had put her in and dashed down the stairs. It would not be long before her disappearance was noticed.

(yeah!)

Lairiel nodded. Pull you hood up. She looked to Lairelosse who waved. Lairelosse was their backup, to watch and keep guard of their backs. "Stick to the shadows. There is a small doorway into the fortress that is unguarded." she whispered to Morohtar and started moving.

Morohtar pulled his cloak about him and pulled his hood up. He nodded to Lairelosse with a small smile before following behind Lairiel. He crouched down low to the ground as he slinked his way closer to the small doorway Lairiel had spotted. Soon they were inside the fortress. The guards peered at them curiously, as they could not see their features. Clearly they had been told to look out for something in particular. Morohtar folded his clawed hands into himself, shielding them from view. Suddenly an alarm sounded, screeching as loud as it could. Every guard pounced into action. Morohtar readied himself for the attack, but no guards came to him or Lairiel. Instead they bolted for the tower. "No!" Morohtar hissed, jumping after the guards.

Holly sprinted down the steps and was just out the door when the alarm was sounded. She fell silent and listened to the rushed steps following behind her. She could hear Durion's voice screeching in anger, belting out demands. Holly looked in front of her to see a flood of black advancing on her. Her breath caught in her throat, her eyes wide with fear. For the briefest of seconds she closed her eyes and composed herself. When she opened her eyes she was more determined. A deadly expression sprawled across her face. Her arms rose above her head and so did the gravel, throwing most of the guard off balance. Those that remained standing, faltered in their charge and stared at Holly incredulously. A moment passed and then the guard charged her again. Her eyes flashed red and an explosion from nowhere bolted through the city. The tower fell, with the guards screeching in horror. Holly stood amongst the rubble, trembling and wobbling on her feet.

Morohtar gripped onto Lairiel's shoulder as he felt the ground wobble beneath his feet. He pulled her close to him, protectively, shielding her and holding her up on her feet. He breathed a sigh of relief when the tremours stopped. Only for his eyes to bulge in horror as he spotted Holly and in the next second see bolts of energy exploding from her. He pushed Lairiel to the ground, his claws facing away from her, his arms wrapped around her to cushion the fall. His body moved over her to shield her from the hot beams of light that soared inches over his body.

Lairiel gasped ad the ground began rolling. Morohtar had Pulled her in to protect her. She caught sight of Holly, and tried to yell to her, but Morohtar had pushed her to the ground, protecting her as sudden beams of light flew above them. "Holly!" she screamed out, willing Holly to hear her. The sounds of stone crumbling fille her ears, and for one of the first times in her life as a ranger, Lairiel knew fear.

Lairelosse watched the tower fall, horror spread across her face. She sprinted towards the still falling rubble, yelling out her friends' names.

Morohtar ventured a glance as the last sounds of the rubble falling echoed throughout the plain. Bodies lay strewn over boulders. Morohtar grimaced as he pulled himself to his feet. He held his hand out for Lairiel. He could faintly hear the sound of his name and Lairiel's. Looking over his shoulder, he saw Lairelosse running towards them. He raised his free hand, gesturing to her.

Holly's eyes were wide with horror at the damage she had inflicted. Even in her teachings with Durion she had barely been able to start a fire. After all this time it finally occured to her, she should not have been able to do that. She should not have been able to do any of it. Her hands trembled at her sides. Her eyes roamed over the destruction, three figures stood in the dusty distance. "Morohtar? Lairiel? Lairelosse?" Her voice was weak, but it carried in an echo across the distance to her companions. Would they still be her companions now? Tears welled in her eyes. The fear that she had pushed away earlier, hitting her straight in the chest.

Lairiel took his hand, shaking as she stood. She too waved at Lairelosse who came running up to them. "Are you alright? What happened?" the pirate woman questioned, but Lairiel had taken off, running to Holly. When she reached her, she grabbed Holly into a right embrace. "Holly, forgive me, I couldn't get to you...and he took you..." then she did something she hardly ever did. She began to cry, shaking from relief that Holly was alright.

Morohtar grimaced slightly as he straightened his back. He glanced to Lairelosse, unfortunately he did not have the energy to offer a smile. He was not at all sure that a smile was necessary at this point in time. He laid an arm around her shoulders and led her to meet Holly and Lairiel. His jaw dropped in surprise as he saw Lairiel was crying. He stayed a pace back, allowing Lairiel her moment.

It took Holly a moment to register someone was holding her. It seems she had over exerted herself when she cast her last spell. "Oh Lairiel..." she whimpered, her head burrowing into her companions shoulder. "What have I done?" Her voice trembled with the fear that spiraled through her body. Her arms wound tightly around Lairiel as she sobbed.

Lairelosse walked with Morohtar, also surprised that Lairiel was crying. Perhaps the woman did have a heart after all. She watched silently, still shocked at the chain of events that had taken place.

Lairiel stroked Holy's hair, stopping her own tears. She cradled Holly close, like a mother would. "Holly...holly, holly, you did what you had to do. Easy...you just did what you had to." she whispered. She hadn't had any idea that Holly could do that. Holly had saved herself, and Morohtar, as well as herself and Lairelosse. "Holly, you're safe now." she moved back and cupped the younger girl's face, wiping her tears away. "Listen to me. You are not bad or evil for doing this. You destroyed the evil." more tears made their way down Lairiel's face as she saw the fear in Holly's. "You saved yourself, and us. Understand?" she whispered gently to Holly.

Morohtar frowned deeply. He had always wondered why Durion had kept Holly alive. Why he had kept her closest to him. Durion must have known something about Holly no one else did...except her parents. Morohtar's eyes flashed briefly. Was Holly's parent's death an accident or was it murder? He glared into space, his hands balling into fists. After a moment he controlled himself. "Perhaps we should go. Perhaps we should bring this to the attention of the Steward of Gondor. Perhaps he can help us solve this riddle," he pasted on a smile for Holly's sake. He could not deny he was worried about what he had seen.

Holly nodded at both Lairiel and Morohtar's words. "Yes," she mumbled. "You're both right," she nodded again, finding it hard to convince herself that there was not something slightly evil about her. Holly remained attached to Lairiel. She leaned against her as she took a shaky step forward. With a gasp, she stumbled and fell to the ground. Her body felt so fragile under the weight of fatigue.

Morohtar jumped into action, sweeping her from the ground and into his arms. "Easy now," he crooned softly to her, pressing his lips to her feverish forehead.

Lairiel watched them, silently. She didn't know exactly what had happened. Lairielosse went over to Lairiel. "Seems you won't be needing my services anymore?" Lairiel too a breath and shook her head. "No." she said, and with a tip of her hat, Laireloss disappeared. Lairiel began to walked stiffly through the rubble after Holly and Morohtar.

They reached the white city, and upon entering, Lairiel kept her hood low over her face.

The guard looked behind them to where the city of Osgiliath should have been. It was gone. His eyes bulged. "What happened?" He demanded, fixing the company before them with a cool stare. He took in Holly's demeanor and grimaced slightly. She must have been caught in whatever had caused the destruction of Osgiliath.

Morohtar cleared his throat, not liking the way the guard eyed Holly and Lairiel. "We need to speak with the..."

The guard stopped him. "The Steward is sleeping. He does not wish to be disturbed. And Lord Boromir is away on business." He added before Morohtar could ask.

Morohtar shrugged his shoulders and them grimaced as the move jostled Holly, causing her to gasp in pain. "Where is Lord Faramir? Would it also be possible to see a Healer as soon as possible?"

The guard rolled his eyes. "Lord Faramir is in his study. I shall have one of my subordinates take you to him and I will send a Healer to you there." He stepped aside to let them pass, watching them as they left with his subordinate. He shivered slightly as his gaze fell on Holly. He shrugged and returned to his watch, pondering what could have demolished such a great city. The Steward will not be best pleased when he woke from his slumber. Especially since he had charged Faramir to uphold Osgiliath.

Lairiel disliked this guard strongly, but she said no words, glad she was still disguised as a man. She followed behind the other two, silently, with a hand upon her sword. She had failed Holly once, she wouldn't again. The other guard took then to Faramir's study, and knocked on the door. Lairiel kept her face hidden within her hood, waiting.

Faramir answered the door with a slight smile. "Yes? How can I help you?" He asked. Although his voice was light, his face betrayed his true feelings. It was clear that Faramir was exhausted. He stepped back to let his company in. He returned to his seat. He finally took in the appearance of the company in front of him. "What happened?" Concern wiping away the fatigue in his features as he stood once more, ushering Morohtar to the sofa with Holly. "Send a healer immediately," he barked at the guard before shutting the door. He looked to Lairiel for answers.

She lifted her head, and pushed her hood back. "A very unfortunate chain of events." she recounted the story, from beginning to end. "Do not blame Holly, if anything the blame rests on my head. I would wish to speak to the Steward alone, when he awakes. I know he will be displeased, and can do to me what he sees fit. My only wish is that Holly and Morohtar remain safe." she finished with a whisper. She lowered her gaze, then sank and kneeled in front of Faramir. "Her uncle was truly an evil man."

Holly gasped, struggling to sit up. "Lairiel...you will do no such thing. I did those horrible things. I should pay the price." Leaning back on her arms, she panted with the exertion. Morohtar held a cold cloth to her head. "Relax...Please..." he stressed, worry thick in his voice.

Faramir raised his hand to silence all three of them. "That will not be necessary Miss Lairiel. Osgiliath was my brothers and my own responsibility. My father will be angry, but there is nothing that can be done about it now. I shall talk to my father. He need not know about you three. I fear what he will do with Holly's power. It is not something that should be messed with." There was a brisque knock at his door. He fixed all three of them with a warning stare and held his finger to his lips. He opened the door and let the healer in.

The healer knealt down by Holly at the same time as Faramir helped Lairiel to her feet. The healer hmmed and hawed over Holly. In truth he was not sure what to perscribe. It was clear, on the surface, anyway that Holly was exhausted. As to why, the healer did not know. "I suggest that she gets a good nights sleep and takes this..." he placed a vial of herbal medicine in Morohtar's hand. He grimaced visably at the sight of Morohtar's claws, but decided to not say anything. In truth he was intrigued about the claws, but feared showing too much curiousity in the presence of Faramir. "...every four hours. It will rejuvinate her strength." He finished before leaving the room.
