They rode in silence until nightfall. Lona found a secluded place to camp. "No fire." she stated, knowing Caran would know the reasons.

"I know," Caran murmured faintly as she lay out her thin travelling mattress and sat on it. They were fugitives in the eyes of her Captain. Caran wondered what price had been put on her head and just how many people were out looking for her right this minute. "Lona, you have not slept in Valar knows how long. You should rest, i'll take the first watch."

"I slept before we went to camp," she said. Lona's eyes had dark circles under them, belying her unspoken words of not being tired.

"Off course, but if you do not mind me saying so Miss, you look like you need some more sleep. So please, take some rest. I will wake you in a couple of hours to swap over if you would like?" She raised her brow quizzically to her companion.

Lona nodded once. "Alright." she laid down and closed her eyes. She tried to think of an explanation for everything, frowning in frustration when she came up with none. Why had the captain betrayed them? She drifted off into a fitful sleep, her dreams circling around her mother, who was calling out for help.

Caran paced around Lona in a quiet circle. Her arm was folded across her midrift, her fingers splayed out to touch upon her hilt. Her free hand toyed with a small necklace around her neck. Her eyes darted from side to side, seeking out danger with every pass. While her eyes were focused, her mind was not. It was clear Caran had nothing to do with any deal the Captain had made. It had something to do with Lona. At the same time, it was the Captain that had told her to take company with her. It must have been a cover, Caran assumed. That would suggest the men, at least, not all the men were in on this deal. Caran rolled her eyes. How were they to know who they could trust and who they could not? This deal must have been important. It was clear the Captain had fell foul on his part of the deal. Therefore someone will be breathing down his neck to see it done. There will be hunting parties looking for them. It was not safe for Caran and Lona to stay in the one place for very long. Help was needed, but where could they find it? The elves? At the very least they could seek refuge with them until they could figure out what was happening. Lona was clearly an important key to whatever was going on.

Lona's eyes snapped open and she abruptly sat up, taking a deep breath. She couldn't sleep anymore. Not with what was going on. She took out a parchment, ink, and quill. She laid it out on a flat spot and took a candle out, lighting it. She began to write.

Caran did not even start when Lona sat up. She had grown accustomed to Lona and the surrounds. Anyone would be hard pressed to scare her now. "Had enough sleep Lona?" She asked while she continued to patrol the area. "I do not think we should stay here for very long. There will be people searching for us. It would be best that any trail left be too cold to follow." Caran glanced at the parchment, raising her brow slightly.

"I know." she saw Caran's glance. "I am writing to Eomer. He'll know what to do." she said, somewhat softly. She kept writing in her scrawling handwriting until she at last set the quill down. "Now we wait to catch the post master."

Caran nodded silently. Eomer was a good choice. He was very trustworthy. She knew he would be able to help them. Her fingers continued to caress her lips while she was deep in thought. Her pacing became a second nature as did her watch. Her eyes stared piercingly into the shadows, looking for danger.

"I know the post master's route. We will meet him on his way back." she stood and mounted up again. She would not say to hope, because she didn't know if there was any.

Caran nodded again as she mounted her horse. She took a treat from her pocket and fed it to her horse. "I am sure we will find shelter at Edoras. We will need to stock up on supplies anyway. I only brought enough for the trip to Mordor and back."

"Agreed, though I fear the evil may have reached there as well." she nudged her horse on. "Foreward!" she commanded, and her steed gladly obliged.

"We have no other choice, but to trust that it hasn't." Caran nudged her horse forward. With a neigh it leaped into a gallop. Caran held the reigns tightly in one hand, the other remained firmly upon the hilt of her sword. Her eyes scanned the horizon for any approaching danger. She was glad to see that the road was clear. However she was not naive enough to believe that their journey would be unhindered. Danger could be lurking anywhere.

Lona rode on for a while, then darkness began to set in. She slowed her horse. "Caran, I don't think I do trust the post master. Would you object to riding all the way to Edoras to deliver this?" she looked over, hoping Caran would agree.

"I don't mind at all," Caran answered, glancing to Lona. "It isn't a far journey anyway. We should be there by the time the sun rises." Caran pushed her horse faster, eager to be out of the wilderness and somewhere safe. She only hoped Edoras would be safe when they got there.
