Crystal watched Anne dance and glide out of the car with amusement. "Well, her dancing shall put mine to shame," she laughed. "Though there is only one guy. I guess all us gals will just have to share."

Taurquende lay in the tiny bed of her cramped compartment, staring at the ceiling through the dark. The rhythmic sound of the sound of the engine, the gentle rocking of the carriage, and the darting lights from the window creating a kaleidoscope on the wall all created a dream-like atmosphere that, she thought bitterly, should lull her to sleep.

But she was not tired. With a sigh, she rolled over to look at the clock on the night stand. 4:33 am. At this point, she might as well give up on sleeping tonight. She had tried warm milk, counting sheep, sleep machines... but wait! What about a nice book? Well, not a nice book. A boring book. A textbook on the history of spoons or something. She would check the library in the lounge.

Taur made her way up the train. The lights were low, but the lounge seemed unusually dark. I can't see the book titles! she thought, peering so close her nose was nearly touching them. She started fumbling around for the light switch.
"Ah! Here it is!" she said aloud when she finally stumbled upon it. She flicked on the lights and screamed.

Anne Boleyn lay dead next to the tropical fountain.

Murder No. 1: Anne Boleyn
Time of Death: 2:30 AM
Cause: Smothered with a ball of yarn
Place: Tropical fountain in the Lounge Car

Liesl laughed along with Crystal's comment about sharing the Headless Horseman as a dance partner. That would be disconcerting, without his . . .um, eyes to look up at. Say, how did he eat anyways? Liesl meant to ask him thus when she was interrupted by a scream. She jumped. "Did anyone else hear that?"

Like any true actress, Clarissa was a bit of a night owl. On this night, however, she had gone to bed shortly after midnight, tired after a long day of socializing, playing games, and eating food rich enough to put every Thanksgiving dinner she had ever had to shame. Snuggled deep into her blankets, she slept as though nothing could wake her, dreaming of playing Ophelia again, on a real stage this time, in front of a real audience, not those screaming brats who wouldn't know culture if it bit them on the nose--

A scream of terror reached her ears, and she jolted awake, sitting bolt upright in bed. She leapt to her feet and opened the door of her compartment, running towards the source of the scream while the long fabric of what she called her Jane Eyre nightgown--a Victorian-style nightgown she had made herself--flowed byehind her like the heroine in a Gothic novel. "What's wrong?" she called out.

Moririellë was awakened suddenly. She has heard a scream coming from the Lounge car. Her room was in the Coach D car which was next to the Lounge car. Concerned, she rose from her bed and walked into the Lounge car. It seemed she was not the only one who was awakened from the scream. "What are earth is going on?" she asked. "What happened?" However, when she saw the body of Anne Boleyn next to the tropical fountain, she got her answer. "Oh dear! A murder!" Moririellë cried. "Poor Anne."

Nurr had just reached a crucial moment. The hound was hard on the heels of Sir Henry. Holmes sprinted nearby, trying to stop a vicious murder. The dog's mouth was gleaming with an unearthly glow. Then - bang! It dropped --- "Augh! What was that!" Nurr let out a small cry herself as a scream traveled up the car. Bolting upright, she took stock of her surroundings again. Train berth. Right. Traveling. Right. The Hallowee-

"Oh no!" she exclaimed in dismay. She had been too much a part of former parties to have any doubt of what had happened. The curse had returned, someone must be dead. Throwing on a sweatshirt and shoes, Nurr followed the commotion to the Lounge car. There was a guest she hadn't seen yet, her ghost floating over her prone body. She was just in time to catch the gruesome retelling. Well, gruesome to the others. Nurr felt she must have become desensitized by now.

"Why strangling?" she mused. "Don't look at me like that. It's terribly sad, of course, but being sad won't bring her back to life. We need to figure out who, and why, so that there aren't more deaths! So why strangling?" She picked up the knitting needles [I assume?] near the ball of yarn. "These certainly seem sharp enough, and I bet there is a struggle with strangling. Unless the murderer doesn't like blood...or a mess...."

Moririellë pitied poor Anne. One murdered twice. It is a shame. She looked up at Anne's floating ghost and the clue she held in her hand. "Anne does not like Twilight and the murdered seemed to know that she doesn't," Moririellë said. "But the chapter, Confessions. What could it mean?" she wondered.



Moririellë thought about this. "Perhaps," she said. "There are two kinds of killers, those who like to make a mess, and those who like to do the job cleanly." She picked up the yarn and examined it. "Yarn is not strong, but I suppose enough of it could strangle someone."

Eyes glued to her notebook, Taunaki wandered into the lounge, "I heard screaming. Is someth-"

Upon the sight of Anne Boleyn's body lying by the fountain, her face drained.

With a clatter, how notebook and her pencil clattered to the ground, "Oh....Hi there."

Clarissa stopped cold as she caught sight of the gruesome scene before her--the body of Anne Boleyn lying motionless on the ground, while Taur, the Headless Horseman, Nurr, and Moririelle stood nearby. "Poor Anne..." she murmured, coming to join the rest of them. At least she managed to keep her head this time... she thought.

Clarissa looked up at the Horseman's words. "He's right," she said, glancing over to meet his eyes before remembering he didn't actually possess any. "There are a hundred people on this train that could have done this. We can't rule anybody out, but that doesn't mean we necessarily have to suspect each other more than any of the others...it could have been anybody." She looked at Taur across Anne's body. "So you cay things like this have happened in the past? Did you manage to catch the killer then?"

"On no!" Sparkle cried out as soon as she saw Anne's lifeless body on the floor. "Oh poor Anne! But why did you have to destroy all those books? You must have angered someone by ripping all ancient books apart!"
Sparkle looked at the sparkly ghost of Anne with a didn't-I-tell-you-look on her face. "You didn't happen to see the killer before you died?"

She then quietly listened to the discussion between the Headless Horseman and Clarissa, and walked over to them. "Well, all we know is that there's a killer somewhere on this train.." She looked up hopefully at the Horseman, while clinging to his arm for her dear life as if the murderer was standing right behind her. "But dear Horseman, you will protect us from this evil and dangerous individual won't you?"

Liesl stood there, dumbfounded at Anne's body, and then her ghost, and then at the book in her hand. She didn't even know that ghosts exist! And why would this murder happen here? She had heard people talk of a curse, but assumed that was just silly superstition. A sudden thought occurred to her, and she turned to the Horseman. "Since the book was open to the title 'Confessions', maybe the murderer is someone with a dark past? Maybe they have something they need to confess."
