Taur sat alone in her compartment, pondering the deaths while staring moodily out the window. Snow and sleet were coming down in droves, and there were mountains straight ahead, looking fierce and unwelcoming against the dark, grey sky.
We must be about to go into the Alps, she thought.
"Two dead bodies discovered within just a few days.. most likely murdered", Eä muttered. "Don't ask me why but I have an odd feeling about the courteous Horseman... She had located her botanical cargo "in the carriage the furthest away from here" according to the Horseman's accurate directions. Having been the unwilling witness to similiar dramatic events on a number of occasions in the past she felt that she was able to stay relatively cool and calm. She had hardly had the chance to exchange a word with neither of the unfortunate victims, although she was hoping to get acquainted with their ghostly manifestations in stead. "Better late, than never", she thought.
Eä had retreated to the solitude in this quiet part of the train and besides she didn't quite trust the busy and rather reluctant staff to provide the special care for her plants which they required. She was absent-mindedly feeding the Nepenthes mirabilis a couple of salmon rolls. It curled its leaves and attempted to pry into Eä's pockets for a more meaty treat.
"Stop it, you, I was told to keep you on a low-fat diet", she exclaimed and continued in a softer tone "And besides you oughtn't even need to eat for a few more days after that incident with the dog.. Seeing you almost choking on the furs should teach you a lesson!" She chuckled and gave the plant a fond pat on the pitcher.
"Well, I should be going, I think I can hear the buffet table calling out my name. We're supposed to be reaching the Alps soon. I so going to look out for the Matterhorn. I brought a bar of Toblerone along so I can spot the mountain when I see it. It's supposed to look like the Toblerone logo... or perhaps its the other way around... Anyway, quite exciting".

The Horseman woke up in a grumpy mood. He'd spilt his supper of ice cream down his cravat, no one was in the mood to attend his disco, and there had been two murders. Looking out the window, his mood was not improved. "Where is the sun and the sea we were promised?" he asked of nobody, as he saw grey skies, heavy with white fluffy snow.
Crystal watched as the snow came down. This vacation had turned into something way different. Murder. Mystery. Maybe she would have to write a story for the paper after all. Of course, they would have to find the murder. "oh! The disco!" Crystal cried. She had totally forgotten. "Bummer. And I had been so excited for that.
Sparkle danced into the dining car, where the Horseman and Crystal Claire sat, seemingly in a rather depressed mood. "Helloooooo!" she sang in a high voice. "I'm still in for the disco!" she said and she threw Algie a dazzling smile to cheer him up. "It's almost Halloween and that calls for a party. Otherwise I've brought my most sparkly dress for nothing!"

Sparkle's words cheered The Horseman up. "That's right" he cried.. er... beaming. "I'm sure our dearly departed would not want us to be miserable at this time so maybe we can still have our disco!"

"Everything is all set" said The Horseman. "The music and the lights have been ready for days!!"
The Horseman leapt from his chair and made his way towards the disco room. "Lights... check.... nibbles.... check... drinks check.... Halloween decorations.... [gazing at spiders, bats, cobwebs, broomsticks, bubbling postions and teeny tiny cute little pumpkins etc dotted around the room] check.... host.. erm... Oh, that's me!... check.... DJ... [miserable looking steward in the corner]... check"
"I think that is about it" he said looking around at room.
Moririellë heard everyone talking about the disco. She suddenly spoke up saying, "Oh, the disco is tonight?" she asked. "Sounds like fun."

Crystal followed The Horsemen into the Disco Room. She walked into the middle of the dance floor to survey the room. "Wow. Everything looks amazing in here. I've got my dancing shoes on. Shall we strike up the band, per say?"

"Hit it" said The Horseman to the DJ Steward, just as the first of the guests started to arrive. "Ooh, I love this song" he said doing a little twirl, as the melodious tune of The Monster Mash began to play through the sound system. A flatscreen TV had been wheeled in from the entertainment room, and when stepping on the dance floor, each guests movement would correspond with a ghoulish character on the screen. "Hahaha!" exclaimed The Horseman as he realised his character that twirled with him was a vampire.
"Now this is a vacation!" Crystal joined The Horseman on the dance floor. Her character was a werewolf. "Well, that is attractive," Crystal laughed. "I think I liked yours better, Horseman."
"Oh, I love the Monster Mash!" Moririellë said cheerfully as she danced to the song. "It really gets you into the spirit of Halloween."
