"It really does doesn't it?" replied The Horseman to the newest dancer on the floor. Just as he twirled and swayed a downzen teeny tiny cute little pumpkins fell out from under his cloak. "I was wondering where I had put them" he said with a laugh, as he placed them around the room next to the pumpkins that were already there.

"You're too kind," Crystal replied to The Horseman. As another song began to play, Crystal moved off the dance floor and grabbed a snack and something to drink. When she saw the little pumpkins fall out from under The Horseman's cloak, she almost laughed so hard that her milk spirited out her nose. Thankfully she stifled that before something truly embarrassing happened. "This really was a wonderful idea. Takes our minds off the murders."

The Horseman awoke with a sore back and legs that felt like lead. "Oomph" he said as he climbed from his bunk. "I'm not as young as I used to be" he groaned. He slowly and carefully got dressed and made his way towards the dining car. The snowing had stopped but the ground was pure white and the skies a heavy grey.
It was only when he had sat down to look at the menu that he realised that the train had actually stopped. "How very odd" he murmored.
He noticed a few of the stewards lingering by the door and wondered why no one had come forward to take his order. He sat there for a few minutes, with images of sausages and bacon in his head, unti he could stand it no more, and he called out "excuse me, can I have some breakfast please?".
The stewards looked at each nervously, and one was pushed forward towards him. "I'd like the sausage and bacon toastie please, and a cup of tea, 6 sweeteners, I like sweet things" he added with a chuckle. "You seem rather nervous this morning" he commented on the shaking hand of the steward. "Why have we stopped" he asked looking out the window.
"Ah, sir... ze train is at 'er destination".
"This isn't Monte Carlo is it? Where is the sun and the sea? How can she be at her destination"
"Well sir, technically she may not be at YOUR destination but she is at 'ers." The Horseman looked at him blankly. The steward took a very deep breath.
"Zis train 'as been on ze same route for years sir, ze driver has been driving zis route for longer than I 'ave been alive. Zis would 'ave been her very first journey to Monte Carlo and ze drivers also and by a very unfortunate oversight of our driver he 'as taken us along his old route, he should 'ave turned left some miles back but he went onwards instead. Before we noticed we were on our way 'ere we were already some miles away from ze turning and now ze bridge that took us 'ere is out with all ze snow, so we thought it best to wait until we got 'ere before we mentioned anything. We are stuck 'ere as the train tracks end at this station and we cannot go back until ze snow clears which could be weeks."
The steward passed out from lack of breathing so The Horseman stood up and walked towards the other stewards who were nervously fidgeting.
"And just where exactly is 'ere... er.. here?" The Horseman asked the nearest steward.
"Transylvania" the man squeaked

Crystal had walked in on the end of the conversation. She had a cup of coffee in her hand. She had been trying to nurse her head ache from last night. That had been some disco. Who knew someone without a head could dance like that!
Her mind had been swiftly taken off the disco though. "Transylvania?!" She squeaked. "We are on a train with a murder and two ghosts, and we are now in Transylvania? Of all the ironic twists fate could bring us, it had to to be Transylvania. Maybe Dracula can join the ghosts."

Sparkle was sleeping with her head on her arms at one of the tables in the Disco Room. She had fallen asleep when taking a break from the dancing and had not woken up to get to her bed. When the train however came to a standstill with a jolt, Sparkle suddenly woke up. "Oh my" she yawned, as she stretched. "These chairs are not comfortable for a nap." Still a bit drowsy, she walked through the carriages towards the Dining Car, hoping to find any of the guests. But when Sparkle looked out one of the large windows and didn't see the expected idyllic French countryside pass by, but a snow landscape instead, she let out a high shriek. "No, no, no!" she whined, "We've ended up in Russia! Where there are bears and wolves, and the temperatures are freezing and no food is to be found.. We are going to DIE!" [ Transylvania! That's just brilliant!  ] _________________

"Now ladies" said The Horseman as he turned to find Sparkle and Crystal [ha you two go so well together  ] coming into the dining car and being somewhat upset. "It will all be alright I'm sure. Surely we can stay here, as long as there is food and there is heating, we can wait out the snow?" he said looking at the stewards.
"We should 'ave been in Monte Carlo two days ago 'had we gone ze right way" said the steward as he shot an accusing look at the driver who had just appeared. "Ze heating system needs overhauling and will only last for twenty-four hours more and then kaput, we would 'ave 'ad it fixed in Monte Carlo but...." he shrugged his shoulders. "Blankets and 'ot water bottles ahoy. Ze food also, you ate ze last of it yesterday, when ze food in ze Chocolate Bar, the nuts from ze dishes and the little things like zat, when zay run out, there is no more food. Ze local people might be able to feed some of you for a few days, but not all for many weeks. So, no we cannot wait it out. We'll be kaput before that 'appens.
"Ah, I see" said The Horseman.
Turning back to the stewards he said "Which station are we at?"
"We are at Bran Central Station sir"
"It doesn't look like much of a station to me" said The Horseman gazing out a tiny shack that looked liked a ticket office, and a few stones that represented seats. There was no platform in sight, and the drop from the carriage doors to the ground was at least 2 feet.
"Any station in Translyvania that can 'ave a train stop and let off passengers, is classified as a station, I myself sir, would describe it more as a piece of railyway line, accompanied by a wooden outhouse."
"Yes, well..." pondered The Horseman. "Bran Central Station eh.... I wonder if.... can I have a map please of this area" and off scooted five of the stewards, seemingly happy not to have to listen to anymore discussion. Within minutes The Horseman had five maps thrown at him. "Steady on!" he cried as he fished one out of his neck.
"Right so we're here... and that's there... and... AHAHA!!" he cried triumphantly. "Not to worry my friends" he said turning to the passengers who had been waiting patiently for an answer to their problems. "As it is quite clear that we cannot stay here, unless we wish to be permanent passengers, there is only one option left to us, and that is to go somewhere else until the snow clears and we can leave. I have in mind just the place."
"Is there a telephone at the station?" he asked the stewards.
"I do not believe so, no. No one even knows what one looks like" the steward said with a weak laugh. "We do 'ave bats though. They are faster than pigeons and do they're job better."
"Of course! I know all about the bats! May I have one please" and the steward trotted off to get a bat.
"It won't be long now" said The Horseman as he settled back into his chair. We'll soon be warm and dry".

They had all done their best to put the terrible tragedy behind them for one night of dancing and merriment, and Clarissa couldn't help but think they had succeeded. It had felt a little strange at first, to be dancing the night away while two dead bodies lay somewhere in the depths of the train and two ghosts with very unfinished business roamed the cars, but Clarissa and the others had soon cast aside their worries for just a few hours. And they had absolutely loved it.
She rose early--for a theatre person, that is--and made her way to the Dining Car, where she hoped a tall stack of pancakes awaited her. Instead, she got the news that they were now stranded in Transylvania with no more food, little heat, and no hope.
She sat down and placed her head down on the table. "I should have stayed in New York!" she wailed. "How can we be out of food? We'd still be miles away from Monte Carlo if we'd stayed on course, they should have planned for this!" She sat up, running her fingers through her hair agitatedly. "What a tragic end we shall make, won't we?" she asked rhetorically. "Miles away from my public, who will never know what became of dear Clarissa Riordan, who showed so much promise on the stage..." She gave a hysterical, helpless little laugh. "Which will get us first, do you think? The murderer still on the loose, or the starvation and exposure to the elements?"

"It will be all fine Clarissa" said The Horseman, "trust me it will". As he said this the steward came back carrying a bat.
"Splendid" said The Horseman as he found inside his cloak a fountain pen and a piece of paper. Dear Cousin......
"There I've finished!" he exclaimed. "I assure you it will not be long now, my Cousin is most generous and his hospitality is famous throughout this land. Even though we are quite a way from his place, I know that will not stop him from helping us. When he reads this letter, he will come to our aid. He is such a good, and kind soul." he finished as he placed the letter in the little satchel the bat wore. "Now fly along .. er... Mildred" he said after reading the name badge the bat pointed at. "Good luck in this weather and take care!" he added as the bat flew out of the window.
"Now then ladies... and gentlemen" he said looking at the stewards and the driver. "I suggest that we all gather our belongings and be prepared for the transport that my Cousin will offer us. It will be discorteous to keep him waiting when he is doing us such a favour". And with that The Horseman strode off towards his cabin.

The Horseman was busy packing when he heard the sound of hooves. "Hmmm" he thought, "it can't be Eliza". Looking out of the window, he saw three magnificent vehicles that his Cousin had sent for them. Each was fronted by six magnificent black stallions. "Splendid!" cried The Horseman, as he ran down the corridor and flung open the nearest door.
"Absolutely marvellous, how on earth did you get here so quickly" he said as he gazed at the sight before him. The nearest driver to him got down from his seat and bowed. "Sir Algernon Dagenham I presume?" he asked. The Horseman nodded. "I bring greetings from my master, he begs your forgiveness that he was not able to meet you himself, but he wanted to stay and make sure the house was comfortable for so many... guests" said the driver as he eyed the passengers peeking out from the window. The driver whistled and the other drivers boarded the train and began picking up luggage.
"Isn't this wonderful" cried The Horseman as he strode around the vehicles, and patted the horses. "Such craftsmanship" he said as he caressed the wood and leather.
"It's a 'earse" chimed the stewards together.

It had taken a bit of squeezing and pulling, but eventually all the passengers had been comfortably seated in the converted hearses. "It's even got air conditioning" said The Horseman as he merrily pressed the buttons on the ceiling. The hearses sped along dark paths and winding roads. Eliza was tied behind the last hearse that was carrying the stewards and the luggage so the pace was slower. "She's not as young as she was" The Horseman had explained to the driver who was attaching Eliza to the back of the hearse. "Ouch!" he had exclaimed as Eliza had bitten him.
The travelling took the better part of the day, until the moon was high o'er the dead oak trees that they passed. It was well after 10pm before the driver exclaimed "we're nearly there". "Oh, spendid" said The Horseman as he rubbed his hands with glee. "Such good times I've had here. The parties, the roaring open fires, the banquets. Ah, good times".
"We're exactly is 'ere" said Prokopy who being senior to all the other staff had been allowed in the passengers coach.
"Why.... Castle Dracula of course" said The Horseman, as he pointed to the large castle that had just come into their view.

The luggage had been removed from the hearses, the drivers had taken the bags in through the back entrance and the horses including Eliza, had been led away to the stables. "Oh, this is just how I remember it" cried The Horseman looking up at the ominious mountain of stones that compiled Castle Dracula. "It has been so long since I've been here, oh what luck we landed in Transylvania!".
Noticing the guests and the staff were looking unsure, The Horseman said "Now then, don't be alarmed, I can assure you that my Cousin is the very best of people. If only the villagers hadn't gone on so much about those little incidents a few hundred years ago.... why the name Dracula would be respected everywhere. Come along" he motioned them to the front door, three times the size he was.
Knock, knock, knock, went the giant bat doorknocker.
The door opened slowly, creaking, and groaning as it did.
"Good evening" said The Horseman. "I am Sir Algernon Dagneham and party" he said, motioning to the group behind him. "I believe we are expected by my Cousin?"
The butler stared at him, wide eyed, and then exclaimed "God's holy trousers" before fainting on the floor.
Stepping into the doorway, into the light, The Horseman looked down on the body and cried "Good God it's Yusef!". "Well who would have thought that!!?" said The Horseman, as he lifted the butler into the nearest chair.
"Yusef! Yusef" cried a shrill voice. "Did you get the door?" the voice called. A maid came into view, "OH MY GOD!" she screamed. "Not you lot again" before she too, fainted.
"I think..." said The Horseman.... "we may just have dicovered that nice, quiet, very rarely visited home that Kit found for Yusef and Pliff were nothing bad ever happens, and no murders take place".

The Horseman had just placed Pliff into the chair opposite Yusef when he heard a voice.
"Cousin Algie!"
The Horseman turned around. "Cousin Vlady!"
The two men walked towards each other and hugged. "How nice to see you again Algie, it has been so long no. Oh, you look exactly the same as evah.
"Still the fashion icon I see" smiled The Horseman, noting the black and red cape, black boots, and ruffled shirt.
"Ah, well you know mee, I like to keep up appearances. Ah, so these are to be my guests no? Allow me to introduce myself...... I am Vladislaus Dragulia.... and I bid you... velcome... to Castle Dracula. I was very sorry to hear about your unfortunate... incidents....on your holiday... but please... my home... is now your home... enjoy yourselves.... have your holiday here.....I have good food and good wine... and good... staff he said looking at the unconcious figures of his butler and maid. Please, you have had a long day, and are tired. Your rooms are all prepared for you. You will find hot food and warmth awaiting you. Do not you pay attention to any noises you will hear... this house groans with the wind and sounds carry far, far, far away..... you are safe now... you're murderer will have made his escape when the train stopped... sleep a peaceful and deep sleep.... farewell....Come Algie", he beckoned The Horseman into a nearby room. "Leave your friends to explore for themselves, always the man of action no! The Sparkly lady needs to put you down I think" he said noticing Sparkle had The Horseman's arm and was gripping it for dear life. "Come" he said again.
"Well chaps" said The Horseman, "I hope you will agree with me, that this was the best decision. I hope that you all find your rooms without too much trouble. It is very easy to get lost in here. You can always prod Yusef and ask him" he said with a small chuckle. He managed to extricate himself from Sparkle's grasp and gently guided her and the others towards the stairs. He followed Cousin Vlady towards the room and waved as he went inside. "I'll be awake for while yet" he said finally. "In case anyone needs me" and he shut the door behind him.
"Oh, this is terreeble" said Prokopy.
"Is it because we are in ze home of Dracula, miles away from nowhere, with a headless man who is OK with all this?" said a steward.
"Non" replied Prokopy. "My ipad has no connection" he said gazing sadly at his failed technology.

"We're--- in---- Transylvania----?" Taur said unsteadily. She calmly pulled the bell call. Sergei promptly appeared. "Sergei," Taur said quietly, "the stewards have just informed us that we're trapped in Transylvania. Is this true?"
"Why, yas, Madame--"
He got no further. Taur flew at him, and grabbed him by the front of his meticulously cleaned and ironed uniform. "Unless you grew up in the south of France, I don't care!!" she said harshly. "This was supposed to be a vacation! Sun and sea, not snow and sleet and mountains-- and most of all, no murders!" She shook him with all her might. "You were supposed to be the best!! Top of your class!!! How could you not realize the driver was heading in the completely wrong direction?!?!"
Sergei looked extremely shocked and frighted at being attacked by his boss. He finally stuttered, "I wvas za top ofv my class! I wvas za best conductor at Tchaikovsky Conservatory een Moscow! But I fvind no job conducting, szo I come to tvain company to blow wvistles and crvy 'all aboard!" until szomething opens up. I know nothing about how tvrain operates," he added sheepishly.
"Oh, Lord!" Taur cried, finally letting go of Sergei. "Musicians! They're absolutely useless in any circumstances!" She threw her arms up in a gesture of hopelessness. "Well, Sergei, unless you can conduct us some food and heat, all our lives depend on Algernon's cousin... and a bat fighting its way through a snow storm!" She sat down in a corner and sulked.[Typed this all before the forum informed me that JF had already gotten us to the castle.  I don't think I have anymore time to go on and abuse Sergei anymore tonight. (I apologize for doing his Russian accent so badly, too. )]

They were Transylvania.
They were SUPPOSSED to be in Monte Carlo.
But noooooooo.
The train just HAD to not stop in Monte Carlo and just HAD to be in Transylvania.
"Transylvania? Really?"
Sergei looked ashen as he bowed and replied, "Please do not be angry wvith me madam." With that he eyed Taurquende carefully.
She smiled warmly at him, "I'm not angry with you Sergei. I have no reason to be. You did your best. Thank you! Thank you for getting us to Transylvania safely."
With that, she stepped carefully off the train and proceeded to follow Taurquende and Algernon to his cousin's house.

[Wow. I go off to a Halloween dinner and come back to find we are in Dracula's Castle. Serves me right for leaving the Hallowfest. ] She felt dizzy. Not faint. Just dizzy. It had been a whirled wind getting off the train and to here. When she had jokingly mentioned Dracula, Crystal had never imagined they would actually be in Dracula's Castle! Crystal watched as The Horseman greeted his cousin. She moved from the back of the group to where Sparkle was standing. "So, let me see if I got this straight....We're staying in Dracula's Castle while a murder is still among us?" _________________

[ Hurray for more family members of Algie! But why did it had to be Dracula? Algie and Vladie, lol!  And Pliff and Yusef are back!  ] The complete journey to the Castle Dracula Sparkle had clinged to the Headless Horseman for her dear life and now they were inside the castle and the Horseman was about to leave them all alone in the spooky home of the vampire, she was on the brink of becoming hysterical. "No! Don't leave us here!" she screamed, looking rather pale and less sparkly. "Oh no, oh no, oh no!" she cried out in panic. "No we have to stay here.. in this aweful, ugly place. Probably with lots of spiders and monsters.." She silent for a moment and listened to Crystal's remark and then continued her lament: "Yes! And we all be killed in our sleep, or become prey of monster spiders or mutated turtles!" _________________
