The first two. I read the chapter one with Nora, and then the one entitled "With a Wolfish Grin" or somthing along the lines. That was my favorite.

Hi there, writers-in-arms - may I joineth por favor?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a segment of a story I'm working on...
~~~~~~~~~
In my dream, a dream that could be described as a nightmare, it was unbearably hot. It was not a good, kind of heat; it was not the kind of heat that seemed to sooth your very soul. It was the worst kind of heat imaginable, heat you could feel in your very bones, heat that seemed to be seeping into your skin every second, heat that sent your body on fire, made it scream in protest.
It was also dark, oh, it was so dark. It was worse than what you would call pitch-black if you were in bed without a lamp or a candle to light the room and no glimmering silver moonlight shining through a window. If you were in your own room, in your own bed, at least you would have the comfort of knowing where you were, of being familiar with your surroundings, with no fear pressing down on you like a stifling black blanket.
In my dream, it was not merely a pitch-black mysterious darkness. Well, I suppose that was not entirely true. It was certainly a mysterious darkness. I could feel all its carefully shrouded secrets swirling around me, daring me to see if I was insane enough, or had the brains or guts to delve deep into the unknown. The darkness was almost as terrible as the unbearable heat.
It’s to dark to be this unbearably hot, I thought to myself. Or maybe it’s too hot to be so unbearably dark. All I know is that I can’t stand either one for much longer. I hope I wake up soon. But that hope was in vain, as dreams don’t work that way. They simply don’t end when you most want them too. Dreams sometimes seem to have a mind of their own.
I was also painfully aware that I was in a most disgraceful state, a state that my parents would never let me be seen dead in, at least figuratively. Perspiration clung to my body in dreadful sticky clumps, making me feel clammy, almost as though I had a terrible fever. My hair was loose, swinging in the unmanageable tangles and snarls that constantly got on my nerves.
Licking my dry, cracked lips in hope finding of some moisture there and being disappointed, I stumbled down to an awkward position on the ground. My searching hands found a small, smooth, oval-shaped rock. At least I assumed it was oval shaped, as the unrelenting darkness wouldn’t let me see anything, even if I waved my hand an inch in front of my face. I popped the rock into my mouth and sucked on it, like they do in the stories. The taste was so disgusting - a mixture of dirt and salt and other debris I probably didn’t want to know about - that I immediately spat it out.
I had gotten what I wanted, though. I now had a tiny amount of moisture in my mouth, however small. I relished the taste, even as I cursed my stupidity at not having attempted to clean the rock before sticking it into my mouth. But I didn’t regret it; it was so hot that I was grateful even for a bit of tarnished moisture.
I got to my feet a bit unsteadily and began to run as fast as I could while I was hindered by my unnecessary frilly petticoats. I was anxious to rid myself of this place, even if it was a place that existed only in my dream.
Suddenly I was brought to a halt as something tore at my dress and scraped down my leg. I gasped as I felt warm, stinging blood run down my leg. Abruptly, I felt my feet involuntarily slip off an unknown edge and I was falling, falling into darkness like a marionette whose strings that had been holding it up were cut at the end of a show.
I tried to scream, but if I did, it was instantly whisked away by the wind that rushed past me as I fell, down, down, down.
A sudden blinding light tore through the darkness and there was a sharp grating noise as I continued to fall . . . and ‘landed,’ safe in my bed.

hey. i'd like to join.
i'm actually going to school for creative writing and was published in this years literary magazine for said school. i was quite proud of myself.
anyways, i've got this creative dilemma:
i'd really like to use
"i'll be your Icelandic princess, your Scandinavian queen"
as a line in a poem, but iceland/any other nordic countries don't currently have monarchies. i'm slightly concerned that it'll make me seem ignorant...

You could use it in such a way as a desired but not plausible outcome, Mairo.

....hmm....that's true.
i just didn't want some snob to say later "iceland doesn't have a monarchy, you twit." then again, i guess you can't please everyone.

If they can make a song about someone being some English girl's 'American Boy' then you can write about whatever non-existing monarchies you please xD or at least that's how I look at it.

Oh, are we reviving this club?
Currently I'm working on two idea's. One is a long-term project that stems from random Ted Dekker inspiration, and an idea I had concerning some thoughts about anger and bitterness. Basically the plot bunny is this: ten people who are destined to give aid to the world after a disaster hits it, are thrown together in a fated hike, where an evil spirit/being tries to deter them from their future path of mercy and compassion by steeping them even deeper in their current struggles with bitterness.
I'm also working on a short story based on 'The Frog Prince' story, except this one is about a frog who got turned into a prince instead of vice versa. It's sooo fun.

 that frog prince story sounds delightful! I'd like to read it when you're finished... or sooner xD I'm always up for edits/betas, too, although I'm more of a fix-the-plot-holes kinda gal.
In other news, next month is NaNoWriMo! This is my first year, and the prospect of 50k words in one month is more exciting than daunting, believe it or not. Is anyone else going to do it?
<a href="http://www.nanowrimo.org">here</a>'s a link to the website.

Yay Nanowrimo! This will be my third year going... won the first two years, and I plan to again...
Apart from that, I've been writing up history study guides for writing, and school essays... XD
I did finish a short story the other day... about Covenanters in Scotland after Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Huh... I had never heard of that until this... I'll have to look into this Nanowrimo. How does it work? Do they give you a topic or something to go on, or is it all just whatever you feel like writting?
Also, I've got a story brewing in my head that I've been meaning to write down about a royal messenger who, while on a very important errand, gets lost, and while trying to find her way to her destination meets many colorful and interesting characters and at the same time descovers a plot to assasinate the king she works for. But it's vital for her to finnish her errand...
Just wondering if anyone would be willing to read snippets of it to see if I should post in in the Fanfictions section.

I haven't been here for a while ._.
What's going on in Elle's writer-land? Not much. Got a writing internship, so I'm being published in a literary magazine called The Atlas that's being released this August. 8D
Otherwise, working on a Sailor Moon Oc fanfic thing and my book, writing lots of poetry.
I'm curious if someone would be interested in critiquing a book I'm working on called Illusionist. I've been writing it pretty slowly, so I wouldn't be bugging you like every day, lol. I just need someone who'd give me honest feedback.
The book uses, like, the whole zombie idea in a very mythological way. It's largely focused on Greco-Roman mythology and is a bit darker then what I tend to write in fiction. At least I think so.
If anyone else is looking for someone to ciritque or read their stuff I'm all ears, just PM me or nab me on AIM or whatever.
