I think he did marry her because there's a line where Jude Law screams "This is supposed to be my honeymoon!!" at Robert Downey Jr. I just assume Holmes dragged Watson to just another one of his shenanigans.

Watson is going to marry Mary (lol) in this film. But from my understanding, Holmes winds up messing things up for Watson a bit in this one. I have a scan of a magazine article with a picture that I tried to upload, but it was too big. I'll try to find the website where I got the picture from, I just have to search my many RDJ website I have favorited, lol.

I tried to pull up the picture but it wouldn't work on my internet tonight (dumb dial up!) but its at Watson's wedding, and Watson has a black eye, and Holmes looks rather beat up and dirty as well.

So I saw this today in the cinema and here are my thoughts.
I really enjoyed it, although I have to be honest and say at this moment, I don't think it was as good as the first film. My main problem with this film, like what happens with a lot of sequels, is there was simply too much dashing around the globe, really fast and frenetic chases and way too much fighting. It was hard to keep up with it all I found. SH is not the first series to fall victim to this "must make it bigger" and it won't be the last.
The relationship between Watson and Holmes was still really great, and I actually like the fact that the new Mrs. Watson seems to be able to put up with Holmes almost as much as her husband. I think it was a good idea for her character, as I can *almost* see her playing a more active role in the future, and loving it.
James Moriarty. He was alright I guess. I'm still pining for Lord Blackwood, but I did enjoy the mind games he was playing with Holmes and I did enjoy seeing Moriarty in his normal surroundings (colleges, lecture halls etc) as it was weird to think here's the most evil man in the world signing his autograph. 
I missed seeing Lestrade more as he was great, and also the constable. I hope they'll be in the next one more.
Could totally have dropped Mycroft and I would have been happier about the film. Honestly, if I were Mrs. Watson, I'd have found the fire tongs and sorted him out if I'd met him naked.

The first one was the best, as usual, but I still really liked this one. They obviously drew on the story "The Final Problem" for the globe hopping, the relationship between Holmes and Watson was fantastic, I liked Mary in this one and agree with you that she seems to be able to tolerate Holmes, at least to a degree! I liked the character of Moriarty, he wasn't in your face evil, he was very smooth and polished, which was creepy to me. Haha! Mycroft! Well, Mycroft was necessary for the storyline, as he helped them when they got to Switzerland, and (if they follow the book) will help Holmes later on. Although I dont think he walked around naked in the stories...

Yeah, I'll probably be able to soak it all in better when I watch it at home. Plus then I can usually think about Robert being hot rather than pay attention to every detail of the characters and story lines and matchin them up with Doyle's stories like I do the first time I see the movies.  And yeah, Moriarty was unsettling, he could totally be a normal guy and if you didnt know he was evil, you..well, you wouldnt know it! I liked how they made him that different from Blackwood. You look at Blackwood and you can tell he's a bad dude. (Fantastically bad I might add) And Mycroft walking around naked was just so wrong for my eyes  Although the poor old butler guy was amusing. _________________

Am I the only one who liked it better than the first one? I thought the script was just so much better, since they based it on actual stories by Doyle rather than starting from scratch.

^ You're not the only one. I liked it better than the first one too, though both are fantastic! Stanley was seriously my favorite bit in the whole film.  _________________
