"Does she...ever mention me?" he asked in almost a whisper. "Your mother and I go way back you know?"
Thoril nodded. "All the time. You went to school together isn't that right?"
"I did indeed. Day after day I would try and muster up the courage to tell her how I felt...I couldn't," he sighed longingly. "I just let her get away."
"Now is your chance, Carter." Thoril coaxed, with a smile. "Would you pass up that chance, Callie?"

"Gods, no! Go for it!" she grinned and nodded at the man. "You really should." she added, more quietly. "She could use someone else besides us right now anyway."

"I don't believe I have met you before," Carter stated. "I can see that you make this man," he motioned to Thoril. "Glow brighter than anyone could believe." He smiled.
"This is Callie. Quite frankly the love of my life." Thoril introduced. "Listen why don't you come for dinner tonight?"
"That is a generous offer. So kind of you. I would love to join the three of you for dinner." He produced a lily for Callie.

Callie grinned. "Thank you, Milord!" she accepted the lily with a small dip of her head, then tucked it into her hair. She grinned up at Thoril, unable to contain her happiness.

"We shall see you tonight." Thoril bowed his head in farewell to Carter. They continued through the town square peering into the many stalls and kiosks.

Callie was grinning as they went. A new light lit up her face. They reached a dress maker's stall, and she couldn't take her eyes off a brilliant white dress. It was sleeveless, and draped perfectly over the wooden maneqin. Trimmed in gold, it was floor length, with a long train.

"I think you would look magnificent in that dress." Thoril said softly, noticing her interest. "Off course I know you would look absolutely beautiful in anything." His eyes softened as he looked from the gown to Callie.

She tore her gaze away, realizing he had caught her staring. "Oh!" her voice was breathless. "Thank you." she whispered, glowing brighter still. With one last look at the dress, she tugged his hand. It was a signal that she was ready to move on to the next stall. She never splurged on herself.

Thoril chuckled softly, making sure to keep note of the dresses whereabouts. He moved with Callie to the neighbouring stall. This stall held a hoard of small trinkets. There was a small silver trinket box with the words "Baby's first teeth" scrawled intricately on the lid. Thoril raised his brow in both interest and amusement. One day... A pair of second hand cuff links lay beside it. I will have to find the perfect suit first he mused to himself. "When would you like to get married? He suddenly asked with a smile.

She blinked, taken aback. "I...whenever suits you?" she laughed. "I am no good with deciding such things, I am afraid....when would you like to?" she tilted her head inquisitively.

"It would depend on how long you would need to prepare. Is there anyone you would like to tell? To invite?" He stopped in his tracks and turned to face her. "I guess the next question will be where you want to have it?" He to tilted his head. He wanted the wedding to be Callie's dream wedding.

"I...don't have anyone to invite? But I would obviously like your mother to attend, as will she. Perhaps have it close to here so she doesn't need to travel?" Callie's eyes twinkled.

"How about here?" Thoril asked, looking up at the white citadel in particular. His eyes glazed over as he began to imagine his wedding. At first there was an exultant smile on his face. It soon turned into a worried frown. His mother would want to help organise the wedding. He could only imagine what spectacle she would make of it. "If there's anything we must do...it is to make sure my mother does not get too involved in this wedding."

"Too involved?" Callie questioned with great curiosity. "You think she would try to take over it?" she again linked her arm with his, glancing up at him.

"I am her only son. She will want the most perfect wedding for me. I just hope Carter keeps her busy." He glanced up at the town square clock. "Speaking of...We best be getting back. I hope mother appreciates the gesture."

"I think she will." Callie said reassuringly. Her mind flashed back to the cuff links he had been looking at. She smiled mischieviously. She would get them for him.
