"Calm down!" Marylyn hissed. "Before you draw too much attention to yourself! Please, sir we only wish too help. It is too dangerous for you to go on your own. He will kill both you and your daughter and all of this will have been for nothing. Let us help please." Marylyn stared at the men holding him. "Let us help and they will let you go."

Nessa smiled as she watched the men pull the other man backwards.

"There are more of them coming. And you owe me a new sword." All traces of a smile left her face. In her eyes was a cold hard steel.

"Too late." a dark hissing voice laughed from the shadows. "I would have let her live, had you all not interfered." a body of a small, blonde little girl rolled into the clearing. Her throat was torn open, and her wide blue eyes were staring, empty.

Cale gave a roar of grief, dropping next to his daughter, shaking.

Nessa stifled a horrified gasp. This did not go as planned.

He jerked away from her. "Leave me!" he hissed. "This is all your faults! All of it! I warned you, I told you!! But would you listen? No!" he screamed at them. "Leave me!"

Nessa's face hardened with grim determination. "Tawry, come with me. Oldin, stay with the others, please. Oh, and send some others after us." she added.

Nessa launched herself into the trees where the voice had come from. If only... No, she did not entertain that thought, training her mind on the task ahead.

Tawry followed after Nessa. He was not in favor of this. Nessa and her rash decisions. Drawing his sword, he patiently waited for her to turn back.

Marylyn's eyes grew wide as she took in the sight of the beautiful young girl. Her eyes wandered to her grieving father. "This will mean very little to you right now, but we really did not mean for this to happen. We only wanted to help..." Her voice trailed off. There was no way she could understand what the man was going through. Perhaps vengeance would help him, she wondered. It would certainly not bring his daughter back, but it would maybe give him closure.

"I'm sure Nessa and Tawry are sorry, too." Oldin said."But Nessa is currently getting herself killed, and dragging Tawry in, too" he added in a whisper.

A harsh laugh came from Cale. "He's gone. She won't find him." he gathered his daughter into his arms and closed her eyes. Tears coursed down his face. He was angry. Very angry. But also broken.

"This certainly is not the time for these questions...I know that, but I guess time is of the essence if we have any chance of catching this man. Can you tell us what you know of him? You seemed to be tracking him, makes me think you know much about his habits." Marylyn grew slightly nervous, realising that this line of questioning could throw the man over the edge. If there was one thing that she could do for him, that was destroying the man, that destroyed his life in a matter of minutes.

"I was following him so I could get her back! But you ruined that, didn't you?" he sneered, his eyes darkening dangerously. "Just go. You've done enough." he snarled.

"Please, sir..." Marylyn dismounted and approached him slowly. "That was certainly not our intention. We truly wanted to help you. We worried for your safety and the safety of your daughter. We meant no harm."

"Then you should have listened to me!" he burst out, stepping away. "I told you! Time and time again not to! And now, because of you, she's dead!"

Nessa chopped through the underbrush with her knife, employing every tactic she knew of breaking branches quietly.

"Nessa," Tawry whispered, tapping her on the shoulder. "Let's give it up for today.

Nessa turned to him with a fierce expression on her face. " It's my fault that the little girl died. I will not rest till I find this man."

Tawry pulled her back. "Nessa! If you are tired when you meet this man, you will die."

Nessa stopped. "Fine." she said, pushing Tawry away.

Oldin had nothing to say. He did not do well around grief. He started a fire, not looking up as darkness started to fall.
