When Brett Barreth received his letter from Hogwarts, wasn't very surprised. He came from noble wizard family, most of its members worked in Ministry of Magic. Brett was waiting for this letter like on needles, though. He wanted to see this famous castle and attend to many lesson which he heard about from father and sisters. He soon went with his mother to buy books and robes and - most - important - the wand.

When the day of first day came, Brett went to the station with his sisters and parents and with his owl Nut. He was not afraid, more like proud. Of course, the little fear was in him, but he was too excited to think about it.

He moved to the train and soon left the station with many hopes in the heart.

"Only not Hufflepuff" was his most repeatable thought.

Psyche Todd. Psyche Todd and her parents who are muggles and don't know anything about wizarding world. She just got letter from Hogwarts.
She couldn't believe to be honest. She was like 'oh my gawd, am I magical?' But that was true. She was going to School of Witchcraft and Wizadry this semester.
When she found herself near any of magical shop, she had eyes big as balls. She wanted to touch every thing, buy every book and learn all that spells even before she went to school. She started to study some of them in free time and was amazed by things that she could do if she will be good student.

The train to Hogwarts just departed. Psyche approached the first door but all seats were full and most of the student were older than her. When she lost hope that she will find place, she saw a lonely boy. She entered the cabin and sat in front of him.

"Hello" she smiled.

Brett stopped playing with his new wand and looked at the girl that entered the cabin. She was small and had short hair, like a boy. He made angry look.

"I am trying to use some spells...and I don't know why, my wand isn't listening to me..."

He shaked the wand but nothing happened. Then he looked again at the girl. "I am Brett. What's your name?"

"I am Psyche...I know, stupid name" the girl became red. "I am so excited! I have read most of the books we have for this semester and guess what...? I can do simple spells now! I see you have problems with your wand..."

She came closer to look at Brett's wand. The boy surely haven't practiced in the summer.

"Hmm...I guess I am not good at it...yet" said Brett with bitterness. "I am afraid I will be bad student. Everything that I was taught previously, already left my head."

He looked at Psyche and suddenly started to laugh. She was nice and everything she needed in first day at Hogwarts was kind soul.

Psyche giggled.

"So, how do you find going to Hogwarts for the first time? I am muggle born, I didn't even know that magic exists until I got the letter! My parents were hyped and a little afraid but I think proud as well. And the magic shops where I was buying all that is needed! They were so exciting!"

She sat in front of Brett; they were alone, so she has a lot of space.

"I come from old wizard family" said Brett, not very fond now about it. His father always told that muggle born are worse than pure blood and - worst - he mostly believed that when he was younger. Now he didn't want to look bad before new friend. "My dad works in the Ministry of Magic and my mum is...well, housewife."

He waved the wand as he wanted to use it once more.

"I heard that we will have potions with Professor Snape. Dad loves that guy..."

"I don't know anything about our teachers, but I know about Dumbledore and Hogwarts itself" said Psyche. "He is supposed to be greatest wizard of our times. I am so eager to see him!"

She was really hypered. She met pure blood! After she received letter from Hogwarts, she was always curious how is to be in family that is all over magical. This boy knew it, she almost was envy.

"You seem to be very excited by the sheer idea of Hogwarts" said Brett and smiled lightly. "I am a little afraid. You know, there are four Houses. If I will get into Hufflepuff, my father will be furious..."

"Hufflepuff...? I thought that there go loyal and friendly people. I would be glad if went there. Why your father doesn't think it's good enough and where he would see you?

She was sure she knows already the answer. Other houses had more strenght in their history, Helga Huffepuff just was taking "the rest" while Slytherin took pure bloods and cunning, Gryffindor - brave and Ravenclaw - smart.

"My father was in Slytherin. Whole family was in Slytherin" said Brett. "They think that there are best students and they go farest in social ladder. I think he may be right but to be honest, I don't care in which House I'll land. I want only to learn spells and other stuff."

"I hope we last in one house, wherever we will go" said Psyche. "I know only you and it would be fun having a friend from the start. I always need some time to start friendships...you know, for some, I am too hyper."

She laughed, looking how Brett's grimace turns into smile.

"Even if we go to Hufflepuff, you would have me to help you with your family." she added, amused.

Brett wasn't as optimistic as a new friend. "I would need about ten yourselves to stop my dad whining about being a Huffie. But I think I have it my blood...I will be sorted Slytherin, I think. Though I am not very cunning. I am normal person without to much of this famous ambition..."

He stopped when a girl with messy curly hair appeared in their cabin.

"Hello!" she said with a serious face. "I am Hermione Granger. I am looking by a first years students!"

Brett made not very intelligent expression. Hermione's teeth almost were bursting from her mouth and she looked so...poshy but messy at the same time.

"Hello, yes, we ARE first year student" he said, narrowing his eyebrows. "I assume you are too...?"

Psyche looked at Hermione with curiousity. She looked very much like her and young student got to like her from first view.

"Yes, we are first year. We are very excited about in which house we land and talk about it right now."
