Okay, so has anyone here heard Enya’s song “Lothlorien”? It’s featured in her album Shepherd Moons (it’s not on any of the LOTR soundtracks), and it’s amazing. =) I guess she probably composed it before she sung for FOTR, which might mean she’s a Tolkien fan! How amazing would that be?
Anyway, if you haven’t heard it, I totally recommend you looking it up on Youtube. It’s so mysterious and ethereal, and even without any words it really makes you feel like you’re in Lorien, walking under the fading trees. <3

Her song Lothlorien is one of my favourites. It is a very beautiful song I agree. Her voice itself always remind me of the elves and hearing Lothlorien made me feel the same as you, as if I was walking through the Golden Wood.
Enya being a Tolkien fan wouldn't surprise me. She seems like she would be.

I adore this song. Bless Enya's voice.

Considering "Lothlórien" was released in 1991, she definitely composed it before her involvement with FotR.
Awesome song. I love her instrumentals.

I remember when I was first getting into LotR and bought the FotR soundtrack, I started listening to Enya at the same time and was filled with glee when I learned that she had a previously-recorded song called Lothlorien. It's so gorgeous and relaxing.
That said, I'm curious: am I only the one for whom it doesn't actually evoke Lothlorien feelings/imagery? To be honest I never felt like the movies did Lothlorien justice, nor did the soundtrack (sorry Howard Shore!), but somehow this track doesn't feel nearly ethereal enough to be elven for me.

For me it was the other way around, I had been a fan of Enya's several years before the release of FotR and was filled with glee when I learned that she was going to be part of the soundtrack!
But you're right, neither Enya's Lothlórien nor Howard Shore's Lothlórien feel ethereal or elven enough. They nailed it with Anárion though.

Yeah, but you've got a few years on me, so unfair advantage... Anarion or Aniron? I think the only part of the Lothlorien-centered Howard Shore scores that really said THIS. IS. SPARTA LOTHLORIEN to me was the one epic choral bit of Farewell to Lorien. The rest of it, not so much.

I loved the song! It made me think of running through Lothlorien.

That's really cool. I'll have to download that sometime. Her song "May it be" for the music video was really nice as well.

"Lothlorien" was second song of Enya I heard (after Orinoco Flow). And it led to this that I started to be mad Enya fan ^^ It REALLY tells us that she is in Lorien.

I heard "Lothlorien" way before watching LOTR, and always wondered about the nice, but weird name and where it would come from But I think it's more suited for the idea I had of Lothlorien than the music Howards Shore composed for it. Enya's "Lothlorien" is a bit softer and more harmonious than Howard Shore's composition, which is why I think the first one is more suited for Elves.
