Gotta say I think his crown is completely insane, but completely awesome at the same time

That was almost exactly my reaction! "WHAT is that crown? Whatever, it's still overall awesome." I'm hoping the more I see of it, the more I get used to it, so by the time I see the movie I won't be completely thrown.

On a different note, I see a lot of similarities (design and appearance-wise) between Thranduil and Legolas and Celeborn. Which is just really awesome, since they're all related to varying degrees.

Well, dayum. I think I just fell in love a little bit. Actually a lot.

And personally, I love the crown. It's different, but incredibly gorgeous once you examine it.

Anyway, when I'm done repeatedly swooning--or, wait, sorry, that's not going to happen. Never mind.

To be honest, I didn't even notice the crown at first But after giving it a bit more attention, I like how it's so very different from the crowns Elrond, Galadriel and Celeborn wear. It makes him stand out as an unique character

And I love how he shows clear resemblance to Legolas, while looking more mature and serious at the same time. Hmm, he's just so very Elvish and all mysterious with that intense gaze and quite frankly really yummy to look at...

I'm very much looking forward to seeing him in the Hobbit

Haha, I do think his eyebrows are a little.. erm.. spectacular, but I guess it makes him look intimidating. Same goes for the crown.

I absolutely LOVE this picture, and everything about the costume (awesome rings) and the crown (how EPIC, fitting for a King and all...).

The eyebrows are a little too intense for me though... they look kinda like caterpillars...

I like his costume, generally as an Elf's costum. But personally I think it should be more green with a leafy design, he's the king of the Wood Elves of Mirkwood after all. ;P

I thought I read somewhere that they were going to cut off the first film after the dwarves escaped Mirkwood. Of course, that was before they announced that there were going to be three movies, but then again, would they really be releasing the image if he wasn't going to be in the first movie?

^ I'm starting to think that's the case. I was sure they would end it with the dwarves escaping from Mirkwood. After all, there were occasionally pictures of the dwarves in the barrels in some of the pictures they released. But I think the third movie has changed all that. Shoot!
