When the song was over, the dwarves spread out on the floor to sleep. Erestia looked around and went in to an unoccupied corner. She found it hard to sleep with a the dwarves talking, especially Bofur, who seemed to want everyone to stay awake by his talking.

Aranyë laughed. "I'd say that he won't I mean he has a loyal heart and everything but he's sensitive and not used to adventure." Then she paused. "Actually, I am going to say yes. I am scared really easily and I'm young, as I am 19 but actually nine, i did lose ten years of my life, and sensitive too, and I'm going aren't I . I'm sure he will too."

Gror walked up to the hobbits door, and banged loudly on it with the blunt side of his walking axe. Bilbo quickly came to the door opened it, and then said "Oh No! Not another one." Gror gave a big toothy smile while he pushed past and said "Gror, son of Gloin, sorry that I'm so late, but I had to travel a different road to get here. So where do you keep your drink, and food. I'm famished!" Gror then went to look for the kitchen, Bilbo right behind him complaining the whole time.

Kalli looked up. A dwarf was with Bilbo, looking for the pantry. She hadn't seen him before but looked a bit like her uncle Gloin. Seeing her puzzled face, Fili turned to her and whispered, "That's Gror, one of Gloin's sons." "Oh," she whispered. "Doesn't look very dwarvish, right?" Kili whispered, joining in the conversation. There was a bit of relief in his voice, and she could tell that Kili was thinking something like, 'yes! I'm not the only less dwarvish one here.' She looked at her relatives and said, "Yeah. Good thing too. Kili and I aren't the only un dwarvish dwarves anymore."

Aranyë got up and walked over to Fili, Kili, and Kalli. "Oh there's another dwarf here!" She exclaimed and went to greet him. "Hi dwarf! I'm Aranyë! What's your name?" she practically yelled. The others laughed at how loud and outgoing she was, and Aranyë, who didn't know she was loud and outgoing and hyper, shot them a clearly puzzled look.

Kalli smiled. Aranye was clearly turning into a dwarf.
She got up and asked Bilbo where the pantry was, and when he didn't answer, she went there herself and got herself a snack. Such good seed cakes, she thought. I should ask him for the recipe if I have the time. Just then, Thorin got up and the whole Company started discussing their quest. Gandalf had just arrived and now he gave the key and map to Thorin. They rose and went to the table, and Kalli had to squeeze in to sneak a seat in between her favourite cousins.

Kalli and Fili and Kili were watching Thorin intently when someone breathed, "Hello," behind them and they jumped. It was Aranyë. "What the heck, Aranyë?" Kili snapped and Thorin glared at the four of them.

Kalli laughed. When she could regain control of herself, she looked around and found that everyone was glaring at her. "Shame, Kalli," Gloin whispered from across the table. Kalli shot a look at him saying,'can't you just let us have fun for a while?' And all heads turned back to Thorin. "They just finished talking about King Thror when Aranye startled us and you started laughing," Fili whispered. Kalli's eyes widened and she put her head in her hands. She could've been kicked out of the Company for that, since the topic of Erebor was a sensitive topic for everyone, especially Thorin.

Aranyë began to apologize but suddenly her whole body froze, going slack. Rigid. Stiff. She fell to the floor and writhed about in agony. But she did not see Bilbo's dining hall. For the first time in her life, she was seeing flashes of her past life.

An elven mother combing her hair. A human father teaching her how to hunt. Her running around and laughing with human brothers, dancing around in dresses with human sisters.

Suddenly those images disappeared and Aranyë once again saw a hobbit hole, many dwarves, a wizard, and an elf.. and her head hurt. A whole lot.

Kalli gasped and ran to her friend. "Aranye! Are you okay?" she asked frantically once Aranye opened her eyes. She looked around behind her, and even Thorin looked concerned.

"I-I'm fine," Aranyë stammered. "Carry on, I can handle myself." She walked into the kitchen to get ice for her head.... and collapsed again. But this time, no one was watching.
Orcs ransacking her city. Poor civilians screaming, running, dying. Her siblings being slaughtered, one by one. Watching her father die, the tears running down her face. Her mother telling her she would be safe. The wizard, placing a protective charm over Aranyë. The pale orc, killing her mother, her wonderful mother, and hitting Aranye so hard she collapsed nd blacked out. The pale orc laughing, assuming Aranyë was dead. And moving on. But she was not.
