What's with all the Eowyn hate? I love her and I think that she is without a doubt the strongest female character in Tolkien's work. I greatly admire her and she is my favorit character in the Lord of the Rings.

Anyway, back to topic. I LOVE Faramir and Eowyn in the books. In the movie it seemed too rushed. They should have left out a few Arwen/Aragorn love scenes and stuck with the love story that was actually in the books, not the appendices. Just my opinion. I loved the scenes in the EE, I just wish there were more of them.

The main reason I hate Eowyn is because she is a sook, but that's just my opinion :)

I agree.

Well, I really don't like Eowyn. I mean, I don't hate her, there is just something what bothers me about her. Not sure what, though. Maybe that's because of her blonde hair.... Hehe, I'm just kidding.
But Faramir and Eowyn are great couple. And I think that there was just enough of them in the movie. Still, EE scenes, were awesome, I agree.

I think there should have been just a little less of the Aragorn/Arwen scenes and more Eowyn/Faramir scenes.

I was quite happy with the number of A/A scenes in the film - after all Aragorn is one of the central characters, so his romance with Arwen could hardly be ignored. And, to be honest, I think there are only about 4 scenes in the whole of RotK that have any Arwen involvement at all - so the romance isn't really that over-exposed.

I just wish that there could have been a slightly longer running time to fit some more F/E in! (and the healing of Faramir while I'm at it, but that's not really on topic so I'll shut up about that! :P )

I like eowyn because of what she goes through: being unloved and practically having to raise herself, crushing on aragorn only to find he doesn't return her feelings (a tortutous time, and one she looks back at with regret), losing all will to live, and then learning to be happy from an awesome guy who she also falls in love with. it's a beautiful story of growth and life that is often overlooked. it must be hard to appreciate because everything else going on somehow affects the fate of everyone in middle earth, and this is just one person's story. however i love it and think most people going through struggles and/or changes can relate to it in some way or another.

but that's just my opinion...

I hate to tell you, but Arwen cries much more than Eowyn.

Very nice answer. I totally agree with you. She is not a stationary character. She has depth and she changes. Those are the type of characters that leave an imprint in the readers' minds.

I really really really really love Eowen and Faramir together. If you've read the book, you know how sweet and loving Faramir is to her. Espesially the part where Faramir is telling Eowen that she only loved Aragorn for his power, and that Aragorn did pity her, and so did he, at first, but then he got to know her, and not even if she was the "queen of blissfulness" would he stop loving her.

And his all healing kiss. I just think that they are so wonderful together, and needed more lines and time together. I really wated to see his all healing kiss, where he kisses her in front of everbody, and then comes down the stairs and exclaims "She is healed!"

I think that they could have cutted back on the whole A/A thing. THey needed some though. In the book, it seemed to me like he all of a sudden decided to marry this elf girl, until I read the appendixes, and got the whole story.

Well, that's my view on it

I totally agree! They are adorable together. My absolute favorite LotR couple. I also agree that a few A/A scenes should have been cut, but some were needded to remind the viewers of their love for one another.

Hmmmmmm, I've been thinking.(bad sign) If Eowyn some how got rid of Arwen, and then took Aragorn, I could have Faramir. :-D
Just kidding. But it was worth a try. Oh well. I stick to what I said.

I agree with everything everyone's said. Especially the post about Eowyn NOT being a "sook".

haha, that's what my friend says...get rid of Arwen, let Eowyn take Aragorn, and then she can have Faramir. :-D It drives me crazy, but you have to learn to laugh at it...(that is, after I whack her with a hard object.)
