Just finished Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation by Isaac Asimov. I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed them! When I was younger I wasn't much into sci-fi. I've read Malazan Books of the Fallen 6-7 years ago - I've finished Gardens of the Moon and have almost finished Deadhouse Gates. I really liked the first book of the series - the various storylines and points of view, the complexity and the consistency of the plot. But I got carried away at some point and left the second book around 200 pages from the end. I should take and example of you, Hanasian, and re-read them once again from the start.  _________________

I'm going to start reading the trilogy again. Haven't read it through yet this decade.

I read LoTR a few weeks ago, so this year. Currently I'm reading a book on astronomy (this kind of stuff massively outnumbers fiction books in our collection).

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.
Dark and lovely, it kills (almost) all hope but it's written so well that I think it's probably the best one I've read this year.

A lot of reading diversity here!
I recently read Louise Penny's The Great Reckoning, her 12th book in her Armand Gamache series.
This is a summary of the first book, Still Life, from our Library:
“Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of Canada's Surete du Quebec is called to Three Pines, a tiny hamlet south of Montreal, just north of the U.S. border, to investigate the suspicious hunting "accident" that claimed the life of Jane Neal, a local fixture in the village.”
I love mysteries and this series has kept me enthralled.

A 2017 German biography of Martin Luther. The posting of his 95 theses has its 500th anniversary on 31 October 2017 (nailing them to the church door may be apocryphal, though - he wrote the theses in Latin, which few people could read at the time - actually, not very many people could read at all at the time).

I'm reading Frederica by Georgette Heyer. Regency era, witty romance...hmm. I fell in love with this book while I was waiting for my turn in the post office. They sell a lot of books, which I appreciate greatly.
