The man nodded. "Yes sir." He saluted, before mounting his horse and said, "A few may arrive in around half an hour to an hour from now." He spurred his mount and galloped off to the battle. Elizabeth sighed and said, "So, I guess we start preparing?"

Elizabeth sighed wearily as shewalked into the house. They had housed both Redcoats and Americans, so she and the others were worn out by now. She knew she wouldn't get any sleep for a while, and after Gabriel's return, the younger children would be excited.

Miranda came back in through the back door, wiping her bloodstained hands with a warm wet rag. Her hair was coming down from her updo and clinging to her sweaty neck. "Are we expecting Gabriel soon?" she asked. She had had no idea what was going on, as she had been tending half of the wounded in the barn.

Miranda turned around. "Gabriel!" she yelled. She hugged him. She wasn't interested in him that way, but they had known eachother for ages, and were almost like siblings or cousins.
