She did not realize it at the time, but indeed a small smile had creased her lips as she listened to their conversation. It was not her first intention to eaves-drop, but circumstances being as they were, there was nothing she could have done to avoid hearing them. As the male stood up she could see him fully, and for some reason felt she recognized him. It was niether a good feeling of remembrance nor bad..it seemed more like deja vu than anything, curious nonetheless. Her smile faded after she saw him, jaw clenching. Making haste, she smoothly rolled the map up once more, and put it back in her haversack.

There were a lot of elves here, more than he had expected at least. He thought that most of them had left for the undying lands after the ring was destroyed. But it seemed there was still a fair number dwelling in Middle Earth. He called a passing elf over, " is there a reason so many elves are here?"
The elf laughed, "the tournament of course," before Niell could say more the elf turned and continued down the road.
'A tournament,' he sighed then jumped when someone put a hand on his shoulder. Turning him around. "Well you saved me the trouble of finding you," Niell said to the cloaked figure.

Tahlavain watched as the tournament applicants warmed up on their skills. She enjoyed watching, but not more than she enjoyed participating. Turning her back to the combatents, she caught sight of the strange elf speaking with a cloaked figure. Her attention was diverted when her name was called by a friend who had conveniantly lost his sword. 'chicken...' she murmured under her breath with a chuckle. Having found the younger elf's sword and returned it to him, Tahlavain leaned against a wall and watched the strange elf and his cloaked friend. Her arms were folded and her eyes seemed to be closed, but she kept them open to an unoticable slit as she watched.

The stranger reached under his cloak and pulled out a small box. His hand seemed unnaturally tan. Niell raised his brows, "this seems like a rather quick method for you." He took the box and opened it taking a pinch of the black powder between his fingers.
"Careful, just a pinch of this stuff could kill you. Although it is rather quick as you said," the stranger said in a dissapointed voice, "but it's silent so the risk to us is minimum."
Niell handed the box back to the stranger. "Do it yourself, this isn't going to work and I won't be around when it fails."

Tahlavain's eyes opened and she watched closer, though she was a distance off. She saw the box being handed over, and furrowed her brows in question of the substance.

Elenanna smiled slightly when she saw her older nephews and her children fighting, warming up for the tournament. This was the tenth year she would not be participating in the sword section. She'd still be doing the archery and horsemanship, but otherwise, she'd be supporting her family.

"Won't work?" maybe I'll slip a bit to you, then we'll see what won't work."
Niell laughed, "I'd like to see you try."
"It only takes a pinch to suck the life out of it's victims," the stranger hissed.
Niell laughed again, "death would be a nice reprieve," he said as he turned to walk away."

She strained to hear the voices, and ended up hearing bits and pieces because of the distance and the noise of the gathering combatants. Tahlavain heard enough to know that whatever it was it did not bode well. To avoid being noticed, she turned to lean on her side against the wall, watching the practice.

Niell approached the tree that Tahlavain was leaning on. He came up behind it until he was right next to her before speaking. "It's not good to eavesdrop, it can get you into trouble."

Tahlavain didn't turn to look at him, but kept a calm expression. "When someone comes to the land in which I was raised and acts strangely, I have a duty to be sure things do not go awry..." her voice was quiet and matter-of-fact. "I worry not about trouble, unless it is from my elders," she finished, turning her pale icy eyes to him.

Niell shrugged, "suit yourself. But it seems to me that you're being a bit bold." He glanced over to where he had been conversing with the stranger only to find him gone.

She couldn't help but smirk, "being bold has been my life..." Tahlavain turned her gaze back to the practice combat. "Will you be entering the tournament?" she questioned, a queer look in her eyes.

"Why do you ask?" he said as he leaned against the tree.

"I have my reasons..." She added quickly, "I don't answer personal questions..." Folding her arms, Tahlavain turned her head to look at him, a smirk on her face. "If you must know, I ask because I would look forward to a match with one as strange as you, and would thoroughly enjoy it if I could win against you... and if you ask why I would, I would say it is because you have acted very rude, and rather mysterious, and I can tell about someone better when I fight them. But then again I rarely encounter spies, so we'll see..." she again returned her eyes to the preparing tournament.

Unable to keep quiet, Aramel Redwood appeared from behind the trees.
"Silmarwen! Stay away from him! He's no good!" Aramel exclaimed. She drew her bow and loaded an arrow. "Sil, please listen to me! Come with me! He'll hurt you!"
