So I started off as a Homehealth aid. Just finished a CNA course. I'm going for Phlebotomy & EKG which will consider me a Patient Care Tech? Is a CNA same as PCT? What comes after that? If I wanted to go further. The nursing field scares me, really intimidated by it lol

It depends on where you live and what the employer chooses to call it. I worked in a hospital with CNAs, but recently they changed the title to PCT. Really, the next step after that in my area is nursing. BUT you could do a million other things in the medical field besides nursing, it's just different certifications or degrees. Phlebotomy, MA (which are really only used in doctors offices in my area), ultrasound, lab tech, radiology tech, EMT. In my area, EMTs get to do A LOT of cool things and have a really broad range of skills that they can take just about anywhere.
My advice is to go work in a hospital with your phlebotomy or CNA and see what sparks your interest. You can also look into local hospitals and see if they are taking shadows. I've had a couple shadow students and they got to see a lot of cool stuff.
Also, even though a couple of my CNAs were phlebotomy and EKG certified, the hospital's determined scope of practice did not allow them to use those skills. The EMTs could in the ER, but never the CNA.

The nursing field can indeed seem daunting, but it offers diverse pathways for growth beyond bedside care. Exploring roles in healthcare administration or education could be appealing if direct patient care feels intimidating. Remember, each step contributes to your knowledge and career in valuable ways.
