I was serious!
Hermione, I've managed to figure out yours -> Alatariel Coamenel, right?
The first part is Maiden with radiant garland, but the second part (I think) translates Heaven-House [or possibly Spirit]. Hope that's right ...

Lothril was the name of a character in a fanfic I wrote (based on myself. I wish... ) and I really liked the name, so there you are!

^Doesn't Lothril mean Flower-flame? Also: Elf Girl, I think you're right concerning Coamenel. At least, I believe "coa" means house and "menel" means "the sky."
As to my own name, let me enlighten you. Eariel means "daughter of the Sea." (I love the Ocean--especially the western shore. ) Maurwen, however, is a bit more complicated. "-wen" means "maiden," and I believe that Maura is Frodo's name in Westron, the Common Tongue. (I'm not sure what it is in Quenya, and the sounds of this name are permissible in Quenya, so I decided to use it even though it may not be actual Elvish. ) So, my last name basically translates to Frodogirl.

I think that the "formal" translation of Lothril is "flower brilliance" - according to Loth's Fan Fic. Eariel, does my nose sense slight obsession? And once again I couldn't resist the temptation to figure out the translation of Maur (yeah, I'm crazy when it comes to languages, stay away xD). Maur - according to my handy dandy Quenya vocabulary (thanx bunches for the one who got the idea to make it) - means dream or vision; while maurë is need. <- Go figure it out why I'm always the one doing the language analisys. And I was right about Coamenel? Wow, an improvement!

Close EarielMaurwen, but not quite. Lothril literally means "flower brilliance". I suppose flower-flame could be acceptable, but literally it meant the other. (I do not know Sindarin very well and am no linguist by any stretch of the imagination. D )
Yours is awesome!

^Cool!
Elf Girl: Your nose senses only slight obsession? :blinkblink: Well, yes, actually, i have a (hopefully) reasonable grasp of Quenya and eventually will move on to Sindarin.
Concerning maure, "dream" or "vision" fits him!
But this is what i found on Ardalambion.com:
Maura "Frodo" (PM:50) There was no word maur- in contemporary Westron, but in archaic Rohirric it meant "wise, experienced"; hence Tolkien rendered Maura by a Germanic name of similar sense.
Anyway, i'm glad there's someone else who loves language!
To both you and Lothril: Cool meaning! Actually, it turns out i think i was aware that ril meant "brilliance"--just at the time i was unsure how to translate that simply, and i knew that in the name Anduril it's translated "Flame." So, yea, we're on the same page, (i think).

^ Oooh, another person who's good at Elvish? I've already been told what my name means, but perhaps could you tell me as well? I've never known what it means, you see...

My story is, sadly, boring.
It's the only Quenya translation of my name.
Often, I have to join things as "Lady Herenya" if Herenya is taken... because it's not the most original name ever. (Neither is the name it's a translation of)

Oro, and Herenya, you both have very original names in my opinion and don't change them!
I got mine off another forum. for people who know me well, I am a passionate Dragonlance fanatic. I went on a DL site dedicated to this evil character a year ago. the character worships Nuitari, the dark moon. I tried the username "Dark Moon" but it was already taken so I added a "Lady" at the front.
that's about it (I have about a dozen other aliases I made up that are suited to the forum it belongs to such as DarkElf, Servant of Sauron, DarkDragonstorm, etc.)

^Your story is very interesting. I think your name is kind of poetic. And Herenya, you can also be original in your personality, even if you don't think your name is.
Ororuthiel: "Oro" has to do with "upwards" and "up", and "-iel" means "daughter of..." ...whatever the other element of the name is. I'm not sure about "ruth," though. I think your name is in Sindarin, and it's Quenya that I'm really familiar with.

^ That's cool thanks anyway!
EDIT: I found out that 'ruth' means 'anger', so maybe 'Angry Daughter of the Above'? Maybe...
