Miranda nodded. She hadn't been called "Randa" in a long time...she mounted her horse and checked to see if Nathan and Samuel were mounted before placing William in front of her.

"Let's go.." Elizabeth said, hearing distant voices. She spurred her mare and led the group away.

Miranda spurred her horse on after Elizabeth, and was followed by Nathan and Samuel's horses. They rode for a while, and Miranda finally asked, "Elizabeth, are you sure we would be safe there? And what about Gabriel and Mr. Martin? How will they find us? <i>Will</i> they find us in the first place? Don't forget, the English army <i>may</i> still be after me..."

"Bordon will search for them...plus if they have Tavington, and they see the house empty, he'll know I had you moved..we've planned for this in case it happened."

Miranda nodded. She absent-mindedly began fiddling with her ring as she stared ahead.

Elizabeth looked at Miranda and her eyebrows raised questiongly. "Are you two betrothed?"

"Hmm?" asked Miranda. She looked down at her finger. "Oh," she said, "No." After a moment, she sighed. "I'm sure they'll bring back Tavington. I hope he comes back, for your sake."

She nodded slightly, before looking toward the north, hearing voices. "Bordon." He stopped his horse, and turned the stallion around. The voices silenced almost immediatly, and Elizabeth looked around, noticing that it was half-dusk, thus making it hard for her to spot where the voices had come from.

Miranda looked around. William opened his mouth to ask her something, but she put it gently over his mouth and listened. "Behind us," she whispered. Ever since she was small, she had had the hearing of a dog.

Both Bordon and Elizabeth turned their horses again, and Elizabeth felt a pistol be dropped into her lap. She looked toward Bordon, and dismounted her horse.

Miranda looked around, confused. She made a face at Elizabeth that said, <i>'What's going on?'</i>

She looked at Miranda. "Stay here..." she whispered. She looked at Bordon, and she headed into the gloominess. She moved and heard the voices again. "The Martin children are not at their house, sir.."

Her eyes widened as she heard Wilkins' voice. "Search for them! They could not have gotten far.."

"Indeed not.." she said stepping out of the shadow of the tree. She aimed the pistol at Wilkins. "Lady Holmes." he said, surprised. "Where is Tavington? Have the Martins taken him somewhere."

"You're a traitor...to both America and England! Stooping so low that you ask the Americans to capture my fiancee.. Then sending a group of Loyalists to the Martin's residence, so you could capture or kill!"

Miranda dismounted quietly and put up a hand to silence the children. She told Samuel and Nathan - without speaking - to make sure William and Susan stood silent. She peered around, holding the horses' reins and listening.

"You're a traitor...to both America and England! Stooping so low that you ask the Americans to capture my fiancee.. Then sending a group of Loyalists to the Martin's residence, so you could capture or kill!" she heard Elizabeth's voice say. She put her hand over her mouth.
