As if on cue, the door opened and a maid came in carrying a tray. A young girl followed her, carrying another tray.

Miranda looked at the trays as the girls brought them, then followed them out with her eyes. When the door closed, she attacked the food ravenously, for she was recovering.

Miranda hung closely behind her and snuck out into the hallway behind her. They moved quietly through shadows until they got to the dungeons. Miranda managed to silence her coughs enough to allow Elizabeth the time she needed to get the keys.
