I completely agree with you! I wear dark colours most of the time, but sometimes I'll wear bright colours. Sometimes people say that I'm punk, and then someone actually said once that I was goth, I'm not sure how they came to that conclusion, and then another day I'm wearing jeans and a pink shirt, or sweats with a tee. I wear what I like. That's it. I hate labels

ErulissëEnethNîn wrote: Definition of Gothic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GothicDefinition of Goth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GothNope, just because you wear black and listen to heavy metal does not make you Goth. Although just because you're Goth doesn't mean you can't listen to bands like Good Charlotte. I think today people are so focused on what you can or can't do within all these certain subcultures that they forget to find their own meaning to what it means to be Goth (or Punk, Pagan or whatever subculture you belong to). I wouldn't call myself a member of any subculture, however I am extremely fascinated by Goths and Pagans. I listen to everything and anything (from Nightwish to Good Charlotte, and from Eminem to Enya) and wear whatever clothes I find comfortable at the moment. I'm just being me.
You're like me!I like black and listen to different types of music.I don't consider myself a label although I have respect for goths, punks or any subculture.I can dress whoever I want and I love being me, although that means lots of people staring at you when you go out but I don't care.I'm happy just the way I am Lots of people respect me for that(especially grown ups). They always say to me "Never Change"

Everyone should be able to dress how they want too, regardless. Not be subject to ridicule or fear because they are seen as different.
When I was younger, about 15/16. I started to dress more the way I wanted too. Stripey tights, combat shorts, various metal t-shirt and my Doc boots. I had everything from bottles to bricks thrown in my direction. Plus I've been spat on, had my hair almost set on fire. You name it, it's been thrown my way. But I held my head high and I got through it. Okay so there were a few scuffles along the way. But it made me even prouder to be who I was.
Then you have the reverse.
I have a friend I've known since I was around the same age as above. She is a true hardcore punk. Although to look at her you'd have no clue. So this means to certain musical elitists that she is somehow not a true punk. When in reality she's more punk than half of these idiots put together.
Never judge a book by it's cover.
I applaud all of you for doing your own thing. You ALL rock.

Thanks Vivi
I agree with what you said about being yourself no matter what. I dress the way I do (mostly black, metal shirts, combats ect) because it's what I'm most comfortable in. Not because I should or I want people to accept me.
So long as you feel comfortable and you like your own style. I salute you.

You wrote that perfectly!
I don't give a shower for all those who think I should be a lil' good girl (ok, good can be understood in many ways =D) and listen to the music everyone else like, to be dressed like they are ... C'mon, am I a Barbie doll?! And so I dress myself the was I and only I want to and I don't listen to the songs they do ... It makes me sad a lots of time, but ok, I will survive ... I think I will. =S
So wonder why I'm on the forum most of the time? Just to escape my pathetic schoolmates and folks from the street. (not to mention I fell in an obsessive love w/ Au : ))
Last time we talked about music it went like this:
Us5, Britney, Hilarry Duff, Kelly Clarkson ... You get bored of even thinking of 'em (no offence to the fans ... I just don't like those : ))
Then someone popped up to me: What music do YOU like?
Me: eh, I bet you don't even know them.
Others: trust us, we know every single band on this world
Me: yeah right. GunsAndRoses, Garbage, Nightwish, Nirvana, Evanscence, Iron Maiden, HIM, Korn, Madonna, Coldplay, Alanis Morisette, Pink Floyd, Rammstein, Queen, REM ...
They just collapsed.
And on the school dance I will NOT be dancing. Let 'em have their pathetic fancy things.
Ok, that was a bit rant-ish. Sorry. ; )

I never went to any of my school dances. It was wall to wall pop and techno.
Just not my scene at all.

I went to my Prom and me and my friends just stayed outside the hotel talking and being crazy The music that they had inside was getting on my nerves and people were dancing all over each other I love to dance but not to that music

School dances....well I go to them because all my friends go to them and I don't have anything else to do We just goof around though, when we dance too. It's the most annoying thing when all the girls are dirty dancing all over each other while the guys are !

Every single day I always where black...it's become habit. Every flippin' single day someone comes up to me and asks 'Are you Gothic" But I never answer them: then they look at me wierd and I think they're thinking 'She is Gothic' So I just ignore them. Well at times I wear jewlry with skulls on it.
