Well, I must tell you, I am not quite finished with the book yet (I started yesterday, and I'm on page 251).
I had first seen that book, last year in 7th grade, in January, at my freind's house, and I didn't really look at it much. Until, like, last month, when I wne to see flightplan, with a freind of mine, Analicia, we saw the previews for it, and she started reading it, she then gave it to Laura, another freind of mine, who JUST finished, and in turn it was given to me! yay!!
I'm gonna go see it this Friday, at the premier!! *So happy!*
Has anybody ever read the book? It's absolutely fantastic, she is just amazing (i know it's actually written by a guy) but, this stuff was all dictated to him by Chiyo...it's fantastic, and worth reading!!!!
Is anybody going to go see yhe movie?
Has anyone ever even heard of it?.....

I saw the trailer when I saw Pride and Prejudice a few days ago, I thought it looked good! I hadn't heard of it or the book before I saw the trailer, though.

Okay, so is this a book thread or a movie thread?
Who's the book by? I didn't know it was a book.
The movie looks good though --- but there are huge arguments about having a chinese actress portraying a Japanese woman.

Yeah, Elenya, it looks really awsome! *hugs* Oh, do happen to have the link to the trailer by any chance?
To our lovely mod.: Yes, I beg your pardon, it IS a movie thread, but I figurd the movie was tied to the book....since it was based on the book, and yeah.
The book is by Arthur Golden, and if you ever come by it, read the Translator's Note, at the beginning.

Yes, they DO look great!
Recently, I was watching "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" and one of the question is "What Japanese term is used to call the sash that wraps around a kimono?"
Choices:
A. Gyoza
B. Obi
C. Katana
D. Hijiki
Guess what it is?

Kitoky: It's 427 pages, it's more than interesting!! It's absolutely fantastic. I liked it so much I read it in 3 days! Lol, the beggining may sem kinda slow, but it's really quite .....emotional.
Rumil,Sidawethiel: In the book she keeps on talking about kimons, like evry 5 pages lol, there is always a description of some beautiful kimono, they're quite fun, and I'm looking forward to them too! Especially this one that was black, with a black dragon fly, with gold swirls...or something like that...yeah
Kitoky: OBI!!!! OBI!I KNOW!!
Luthien: Do you have a trailer? does anyone?
Guess what!? I couldnt go see it today!! *so mad* perhaps i can go on sunday...hopefully

Anyways, I've heard a bit of bad things about Memoirs of a Geisha, since it does look and IS a westernized version of a story that was BASED [cough] on a true story. Mind you, westernized, based on true story thing is never great.
