This must be the only character from LOTR Books that I didn't like. No offense to Tom B. fans, but I found his songs to be annoying, and I'm actually glad PJ left him out of the movies.

Okay. these are my thoughts on Tom Bombadil. He's great!!! However, I wouldn't put him on my list of favorite characters. I think that's because he's like a parent : you don't call your mother or your father your best friend, even if they really are. They're just there. Like Tom Bombadil. And I, for one am glad he is.
*Voice fades off into distance* Ho, Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadillo....Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow....

I liked Tom Bombadil, i was so mad when they skipped that part in the movie, but I'm over it now, lol. Yeah i thought he was pretty cool and Goldberry too.

I think that maybe Tom wouldn't have translated well to the movies anyway. I can't even really picture him in my mind....So, yup, I'll post anything else on Tom Bombadil in the actual discussion thread.

I think Tom was a perfect pre-gloom rest. Meaning, it was infinately the climax of the good, relaxing, nonsensical time. After Tom, the book spirals into gloom and seriousness.
Apart from that, I love ol' Tom because I can relate to him on many levels!

I personally got slightly annoyed with him. At the begining I didn't think much of him, i liked Goldberry tho. But i felt his pressence dragged on a little bit, and i was annoyed by how there were so many loose ends concerning his story.

I thought that he was okay, he did save the hobbits and all. I wished that he wouldn't talk in riddles so much. But mostly I found him to be rather odd.
