Wouldn't it be nice if there would be some sort of the Silmarillion Series? Because turning the whole book into a movie would be very hard... Do you think it's a good idea?

Yeah, it would be more possible than putting everything in a movie - but still very difficult - I'm not sure that it would be satisfying for the real fans. Everything within the Silmarillion is very complex and there are parts that aren't even finished. And it would be a great risk - even greater than doing LOTR.

I would love it if they made The Silmarillion into a movie and it seems the only way to do that is to split it up into a series. I think it would be a great idea!

Although I would like to see the movie, I doubt that the movie would be very good, The Silmarillion is a compilation of many different stories meant to provide background information on how such and such came into being. With so many different stories, many of which are not related, the movie would not be so good because the scenes would switch from one story to the other, and the audience would be left confused, especially if they had not read the book before. Basically, I think that it would be too much trouble.

I think you're right about that. Maybe they should make movies of some stories like Beren and Luthien or Turin Turambar (I liked that one..).

it would take many movies to span the many storys compiled(i.e. feanors story could be "Quenta Silmarillion: The ???? hard to think up a name)

I think it would be good, but just using a few key parts and giving a bit of back story. I mean, all the stories are intertwined so you would either have to do them in chronological order or something of the sort.
I think they should at least make one about the Last Alliance and what happened shortly before that. (Eregion stuff)

Yes, I absolutely agree. Which is why I don't think the movie would really be all that great, though that doesn't mean I'm totally against it. Just that it won't be as good as LotR.

It might take a very long time to make, if they do. It's like they would take a break in between. Planning to make part of it, and then making it later in years again. Kind of like Star Wars. George Lucas wasn't planning to make a 'prelude' addition to the original Star Wars.

I agree with the series idea, i think it would work well, a different story each episode, the longer ones having that "to be continued" thing at the end of an episode. Sounds good to me

I think it's more trouble than what it's worth. LotR is a movie, and The Hobbit will be a movie. Personnaly I'm happy leaving the Silmarillion just as a book and allowing one part of Tolkien's work to be left to the imagination.

Don't you just understand this will be another opportunity to hate Peter Jackson even more?

Yes... it'll be difficult to put the Sil into a whole movie... but I'd love to see what can they do about a movie and I'd prefer to see the film after all.
