I hate it when people label you without knowing who you are. I was walking to one of my friend's houses some time ago and a load of kids of about 13 yelled at me "hey, Goth, get a wash!". I happened to be wearing black that day, and it made me laugh so much.
I agree; just believe in yourself and be as you are, don't let anyone change you.

Oro, I agree with you..
No one has the right to change you, because the best thing that you can be is yourself. To stay and be yourself is very important

It's the one thing I'm very proud of about myself. I've never really changed. I've stood up to people like that. People who harass you and your so-called friends that say you have to be like them.
If I had a pound for every time someone I knew said that "it's just a phase"...well I'd be laughing all the way to the bank by now.
I've proven every single one of them wrong and I'm proud to say I'm still the same person I am on the inside as I've always been.
Almost 20 years now...I ain't about to change now.

It is hard to be different from all the others, but I have a very good friend who isn't gothic or alto or something, and she is still my dearest friend, just because she knows that the clothes don't tell who you are...
Ann I love you!!!

When you first start to express yourself in this way, yes it can be very hard. You know in your heart this is who you are, and no-one can change that. I think that's great you have a good friend that accepts you for you.
That's all you ever truly need.

Blech. Labels. I live in a really small town where everybody is labeled. If you wear a black shirt, you're goth, if you shop at abercromie, you're a prep. If I ever use a label I will just have to slap myself and promise never to do it again. Blech to stereotypes as well. I've been asked if I'm part of a cult and I'm like "*beep*?"
When I get really angry and fed up I'll just pound out songs on the piano or my guitar. It's really a great way to get it out.
I just felt like posting this because you're all so open minded and I really needed to get it out! AH!

Two of my best friends are Goth - although they aren't obsessed with blood and violence and stuff like that (penguins, sparklie/shiney things, and stars would be closer to the mark ).
I kind of like black, but I only own exactly 2 1/2 pieces of clothing that color I like silver, and more natural colors better
