Definitely go! I've been there twice in rental cars, and it opens up a lot of possibilities. The roads are generally decent, especially the main routes to places like Batumi or Kazbegi. Just be prepared for mountain driving if you're heading to Svaneti — the turns can be sharp, but they're perfectly passable. Parking in central Tbilisi can be tricky, but there are parking spaces near most of the major sights. Outside the capital, it is much easier. Make sure you have both a regular driving licence and an international one. The opportunity to stop in random villages or take a detour to hidden monasteries makes it absolutely worth it.
