Elizabeth looked at William, her eyes showing her fright for him. Tavington gave Wilkins a muderous glare, and struggled against the two holding him as his wife and child was taken away from him. Elizabeth struggled against the soldier's strong grip, as she was pulled toward the horses.

Miranda's eyes glowed with a furious glare that no one had ever imagined possible - almost as if every part of her was screaming to punch one of the Redcoats. They pushed her onto a flat, where she landed on her side and cried out through her gag. She lay there in pain for a moment before Elizabeth was tossed in on her side, as well. She supposed that the British had had them escape too many times to risk it again.

Elizabeth winced and she looked at Miranda. She sat up in a sitting postition, and her crying daughter was tossed to her. She caught her as gently as she could and tried to calm her down.

Even if she had wanted to, Miranda couldn't sit up, for her hands were tied behind her back. However, there was still an excruciating pain in her side and abdomen, and she went pale. <i>Dear Lord,</i> she thought, <i>Please don't let it have been my child....</i>

Miranda looked up at Elizabeth, her face almost stone and not showing any of her pain. "Nothing..." she said, "My side just hurts, and my stomach..."

Miranda grimaced and tried to black out the pain. Eventually, she was able to loosen her bonds a bit and, with a bit of work, sit up.

She looked up when she heard hoofbeats. Margaret and Nathan!
The two Martins were galloping toward where the Martin's new residence was. Both were trying to avoid being seen by the Dragoons, but they failed.
