The minotaur looked at Edwin with a slight annoyance in it`s beasy eyes.

Kourth snarled in disgust, thrust both of them back inside their cabin. Tossed like rag dolls would have been the better word. Ghyreian landed hard on the planked floor just as the storm came in full. Wind buffeted the ship. The cabin rocked. Ghyreian lost her balance and slid into Edwin. The cots scraped on the wooden flooring, came sliding their way. She pushed them back and slumped against the wall trying to catch her breath.

Edwin was bumbed down hard and the rain just got worse with the storm raging around them, he grabbed a robe that was tied to the mast and got up with it`s support. He looked at Ghyreian and nodded towards the cabin, he began stumbling towards it and was thrown at the deck by a chrashing wawe that came against the ship.

Ghyreian's world was a tumult of seawater and buffeting winds. The storm knocked her against the railing. She saw a flash of red robes. As she struggled to right herself, a minotaur pitched forward and landed on top of her. Four hundred pounds of muscle and sinew crushed her. She scrambled to get up. The railing broke. Massive walls of churning waves filled her vision. The wind tore a scream from her as she plummeted down into the black waters below.

Edwin tried to desperately grab into a railing as he began going to the other side of the ship, but his hands slipped and he slided into the sea with few minotaurs and what seemed like Ghyreian, but in the dark night he could say if it was black robes that he saw.

Then he fell into the dark waters below.

The next thing he knew he layed somewhere, but where was this somewhere?

She heard voices above her. She did not open her eyes but kept them tightly shut, feigning unconsciousness. The voices murmured, then raised in anger. Ghyreian started. The language they spoke was unmistakably elven. She was familiar enough with the general tongue to determine the dialect as Kagonesti. She strained her ears, trying to translate.

"... are we supposed to do with them? Kill them?"

An appalled gasp rose from the others. All elves considered life sacred and was repulsed by even taking the life of an enemy.

"The male is human and the female a Silvanesti apostate. The humans have neglected us and the Silvanesti and Qualinesti enslaved us. We owe them nothing."

"We should have just left them on the beach," someone else grumbled.

"We should heal them, then release them back on the mainland."

"And how are we supposed to do that? They won't let any of our people off this island!"

Edwin raised his head and looked around with sore eyes, the first thing came to his mind to ask the most obvious.

"Where the hell am I?"

The elves turned tp him and were cautious about them, the other had revealed his dagger.

"Check the other one if she is waking up, now we might solve questions..."

A painful kick in the ribs made Ghyreian's eyes flare open. The tanned face of a Kagonesti warrior glared into her eyes. She saw that she was in a crudely built barbarian village. Her lip curled. Under the slavery of their more advanced cousins the Kagonesti had sunk even further.

"Apostate! Answer us!"

Ghyreian sat up. The Kagonesti, seeing she was a dark elf and not bound to the Silvanesti, had not even lain her on a bed. She shook dirt out of her hair and let an infuriating smirk play across her features.

"How did you get here?"

"What did you do with the human?" Ghyreian answered in kind.

"Nothing so far.."

Edwin said with a dagger on his throat giving a quick look at Ghyreian, but then turned at the elf.

"We came here by a ship or we would have if we hadnt gotten into a storm and thrown overboard..."

A frown line marred the Kagonesti's smooth complexion. Ghyreian's gaze strayed to his neck and fondly imagined a dagger protruding out of it.

"A ship wreck," she said flatly. "We were traveling to Palanthas."

"A ship wreck threw you that far off course?" the other demanded incredulously.

"It was crewed by humans, what do you expect?" she replied.

The Kagonesti exchanged glances with his fellows and nodded sagely. Such summed up the general elven opinion of humans.

Edwin stumbled on the side of his bed to sit.

"I want out... with the elf that was with me.."

"That can`t be done..."

"Why? Here we are only a threat and if we are free then we won`t be your problem..."

The elf remained quiet.

The Kagonesti turned to exchange low conversation. Ghyreian heard snatches and knew enough of their dialect to be able to translate.

"... turn them over to them? We owe them - " a word she didn't understand but presumed was an oath.

"What are... to do then?"

"... release them."

"You want them... loose?"

"... nothing for now. We will wait and see."

Ghyreian found herself being bound to a tree. A guard was posted over them.

Edwin was walked to the tree and he greeted her with a slight smile on his battered cheek, he had said something quite insulting to the elves since they hadn`t let him go. They tied him to the tree and Edwin hmped.

"We get caught by these elves and we are trying to kill a dragon?"

"Keep your voice down," Ghyreian replied. She sneered. "These elves are nothing. We'll escape tonight."
