I just finished it for my European History class, yesterday actually! I thought it was interesting, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been under the pressure of having to read 100 pages per day.

Some parts were a bit unbelievable - the whole philosophy course and Sophie's interest in it made me a little incredulous, but oh well. Still a good book!

I love this book, it's one of my favourites. I've read it several times and each time it gets even more interesting and I get more out of it.

Yes trying to read 100 pages a day would really spoil it. Philosophy really needs to be read slowly so you can think about the arguments.

I didn't think that Sophie's interest in the course was unbelievable but that's cause I was interested in it too :P

I started reading it alongside my philosophy class I took last year, but then I never had time to finish it. Now I kinda feel like picking it up again as it was mentioned here.

I have read Sophie's World a couple of times now. The very first time I skipped the heavy philosophy parts, because I liked the actual story more. I was young and didn't bother to read through the letters. Later when I re-read and knew more of philosophy I got more out of it. It's a very good book for a short review on European philosophy from the Ancient Greeks and til modern philosophy - very user-friendly!

The film is pretty good as well, not as good as the book obviously but fairly decent!

Hmm.. yeah, I think I might have seen something from the film..... isn't is made a series in four episodes or something like that? I'm quite sure I watched either all or parts of Sophie's World.
