Wilkins pulled the trigger to discover that there were no bullets in the pistol.

Elizabeth sighed in relief, and she looked around for the knife. She kicked out at Wilkins and saw the knife near the door.

Wilkins reached out and grabbed Elizabeth, then stabbed her back with his knife.

Catherine looked between the tree branches and saw a man crying over a motionless woman. She looked closely at the girl - she appeared to still be breathing. She called out to him. "Sir?"
