Danielle walked in the doorway, lowering the hood she'd had on and shaking her hair out. "It's raining," she said, putting her bag down. She had just gotten off of work at the Ministry - Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Remus stormed out of the Aurors department in the Ministry leaving very confused men behind him. This wasn't the place he was supposed to be. Something wrong was happening, the members of the Order have been killed, and they still couldn't find the traitor. Not even Dumbledore! Remus was furious, he felt like he could brake something. Or at least punch the wall.
He turned to the nearest wall and clenched his fist. His fist hit the wall in full speed. He didn't even feel the pain, but blood almost immediately started drippin off his hand.
In that moment he realized that he wasn't alone. A figure was standing on the doors and was about to walk out. He looked at her and recognized her within seconds.
"Hey Dani."

Danielle heard someone hit the wall and whipped around - she saw Remus and looked at him surprisedly. Wow, he was mad, and had hit a wall...he was normally so calm...she raised one eyebrow and said, "Hi, Remus." She walked up to him cooly and said, eyebrow still raised and a half-smile, "Do you know how long it's been since someone's called me 'Dani' here?" She had developed a new manner in these short four years - no longer energetic and all-smiles, but cool, charming, intelligent, and classy. She took a nanosecond to survey him with her eyes; there was even something different in the way he spoke.

Remus tilted his head a bit and looked at her carefully. Yes, he was sure now. Dani changed. Even though her eyes stayed the same. He remained silent and kept looking at her. Making sure to get the best from the situation, he put his hand behing his back simply hoping that she won't return to the subject.
"Well, apparently for too long." he said and finally, as he struggled to clear his mind, managed to put that same old grin on his face "I'm surprised that you still remember my name."

Danielle smiled. "How could I not?" she laughed. She crossed her arms and said, "You're still the same, you know?" concealing that she knew he had changed. She was secretly amused at how nervous he was. She raised one eyebrow and looked at the door behind him. "Auror's office, huh?"

Now it was Remus' turn to raise an eyebrow. He looked at Dani and his grin turned into a smile as she laughed "Am I? And I was hoping that you're going to say that I'm all grown up and very mature." he said in a playful tone. However, as she mentioned Aurors office his smile dissapeared and he now felt pain in his whole arm.
"Yes." he said simply "But that's not so important now. I'm not going to get back here for awhile. Now I'm sure." he paused "But hey, at least I got to see you again."

Dani smiled softly, sympathizing with him. "Why?" she asked, looking confused. "Oh - you know you're bleeding?!" she asked, seeing his hand.

Now he needed to think quickly. Of course, this was Dani, but he have developed sense - not to trust anyone. Well, anyone besides Margaret.
"Yes, I know. Don't worry about that. Just a small cut." he said pulling his hand from behind his back and looking at it. It wasn't a small cut however and he knew that. Quickly he pulled out a handkerchief from his robes and put it all around his fist. Then he pushed his hair from his face and complitely turned away from the office.
"That isn't worth of remembering." he said and slighly shook his head "But tell me are you done with your work here?"

Danielle raised an eyebrow in a different way - he was acting strange, and one could almost see a stone wall being built around her. As he brushed past her, she could almost feel her body filling with coldness again - like the first day she had experienced a death in the Order. She turned as he asked her about work and said, "Yeah, why? I get off at five."

As he passed by her, Remus closed his eyes for a moment. The full moon was in few days and plus that he didn't need today's fiasco. He was now seriously worried what is next to happen. The enemy was tightening strings around them and they were outnumbered. Still, he kept reminding himslf that he have to stop thinking that way. He wasn't helping anyone. He turned to Dani and smiled slightly.
"In that case you have time for a cup of coffee with an old friend. Or at least one butterbeer. What do you say?"

Dani shrugged indifferently and said, "Doesn't matter to me." She reached into her pocket for her keys and stepped outside. She hoped that she bumped him hard on the shoulder as she passed him. She had actually had a rotten week and was going through a slight depression - but wasn't about to let anyone know that. As she heard him coming up behind her, she restrained her emotions and could feel the moisture disappear from her eyes, as well as the scowl from her face. She had become quite adept at hiding - or rather swallowing - her emotions.

Remus followed her outside without saying a thing. Everything was so easy once. Before over four years. When they were in school. He put his good hand in pocket of his robe and quickened his pace to catch up with her. He continued looking in front of himself. No, he wasn't good with this anymore. He could play around, fake happiness, but something was stopping him. Something was making him not to pretend. At least not for now. Dani was always his best friend. Well, ever since he could remember. She was once a part of the grup of people he could trust with his life. It was a shame that group had only one member now. He wanted to belive in better times, he really did, but... He turned to her as he spoke up once again.
"Well, tell me what was happening with you since last time I have seen you. I already know that your face changed. And that you're an expert in hiding... things." he said. And his words of course had a double meaning "Other is a complete mystery for me." he added in a sort of cheerful kind of way.

Dani shot him a cold look with a scowl for a split second - barely noticeable, but it said a thousand things: 'How dare you? You know nothing about me. Just let me be.' She quickly straightened up and looked straight ahead, her chin not extremely high, but dignified. "I've been fine - I work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Kind of the equivalent of a Muggle lawyer...my cousin Natasha says it's like what she does in America - she's a D.A., a District Attorney." The thing that surprised her was how cold - well, not cold, but indifferent and nonchalant it was...like she was talking to a coworker, not Remus...suddenly, she knew he had lost her for the rest of the night - he would have Ms. Danielle Smith, not Dani.
