I'd definately say The Chronicles of Narnia. They're short books, a fast and easy read, but with such a beautiful story.

I recommend L.A. Meyer's books! They are absolutely incredible. I would choose this book if you would like to read about a heroine. I even convinced most of the guys at my school to read his books. The Bloody Jack Adventures--there are 3 books and a 4th one coming out. Heck, I think I'm gonna become a director and turn them into movies. Select these books if you like pirates, warfare, oceans, romance, and comedy!

You'd need genius to write a book like Sidney Sheldon's Tell me your dreams. His books are all wonderful, but I like that one especially.
And I recommend Nicholas Sparks, too. Lovely romance stories-sappy and such, which I normally don't go for, but so touching and beautiful at the same time.
And Alex Rider's an entertaining read.

I like Gerald Morris books. They're about King Arthur and his knights, but they're also fiction. They're somewhat romantic, and really funny. ^_^

"Intensity" by Dean Koontz. It was definitely intense lol. I couldn't put it down. I finished it within 24 hours and was completely caught up in the story from the very first chapter. I have never ever experienced such suspense before in a novel. Highly recommend any of Dean Koontz's books for all of you who love thrillers with intense suspense, horror and sometimes a slightly supernatural/other-worldly touch to it.

Rosemary Sutcliff is a great author! She wrote historical fiction.
The Phantom Tollbooth is good. It's kinda aimed for younger kids, but I still love it.

If you like in-depth retellings of fairy tales, check out some of Robin McKinley's stuff - she's written retellings of Beauty & the Beast and Sleeping Beauty that are quite good, plus a few original fantasy novels.
If you're looking for something silly and chick-flick-in-a-book-ish, maybe try the books in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series or Bridget Jones' Diary.
And if you want something classic but easy to read, try The Great Gatsby. Just don't read Cliffs Notes guide to it afterward or you'll hate them forever for analyzing the book to death

Lovely Bones - ( Forgotten who wrote it...)
It's an AMAZING book, very stunning...stays with you forever, and ever...
Quite shocking, but it's written beautifully, very descriptive, very gentle considering the subjects...
An amazing read.
Oh, and "The Picture of Dorian Gray", I'd reccommend to anyone who enjoys good literature...
