Yeah, I just think Slugghorn was a dult and was only bragging about Lily to get on Harry's god side.

Well, Slughorn's a good fellow I think, but he's like Lockhart except a lot less cockier.

Lockhart was funny though. As a person, Slughorn is better, but as an entertaining character that you want to see back it's all about Lockhart

I'm more of a Slughorn fan than a Lockhart fan. Lockhart was to...I dunno the right word for it... I just didn't like him all the much.

Slughorn was... an annoying little punk. I can't say what I rwally think of him, I just prefer Lockhart. He was just pompous.

Okay...let me understand this.
Lockhart:
Good things
1. He's....good-looking?
2. He's popular? [shrugs]
3. He's played by Kenneth Branagh.
Bad things
1. Brags annoyingly about his looks and 'accomplishments'.
2. He uses a memory charm on the people he talks to.
3. He steals their accomplishments.
4. He is a freaking coward.
5. He threatened Ron and Harry.
6. He's an idiot.
Ratio of good to bad: 3 to 6.
Slughorn
Good things
1. He's a Potion's Master.
2. He told Harry about his interaction with Tom Riddle.
3. He was good enough to accept the position as Potion's Master for that year.
4. He's very complimentary.
5. He reminds people of Santa Claus.
6. He teaches interesting lessons and gives his students prizes for their accomplishments.
7. He thinks fast.
8. He's excellent at hiding himself.
Bad things
1. He taught Tom Riddle about the horcruxes [okay, well not really bad but it was bad to the current date]
2. He refused to give Dumbledore his memory.
3. He is eager to know important people.
Ratio of good to bad: 8 to 3.
Conclusion:
Slughorn's my DUDE, man.

Kenneth just rocks as Lockhart. It's funny, because that's exactly how I imagined him. I actually really liked Lockhart. I don't know why. Maybe after he got his memory erased he just became so loveable. *hugs* Yay!
Slughorn . . . was strange. Kind of like wine, an aquired taste. Ha ha ha. I liked him though . . . even though I hated him for being so, so . . . attention starved. Ha ha ha. I found him to be a bit of an idiot, but he did give me ammunition to think of random things that could happen to Harry and others in book 7. Ha ha ha.
The person I hated was, oh my god - have I forgotten her name?! *runs around in a panic* The woman who played the DADA teacher in book 5! ACK!!! She just brought back so many memories of horrible teachers and people and governments (oops...did I just say that?) Ha ha ha. So many times I just wanted to rip my book apart.

Professor Umbridge? Is that who you're talking about?
*shudders*
I hated her, well I didn't hate her, I just hated the way she treated Harry. But what really made me mad was when she banned Harry from Quidditch.

Slughorn's my DUDE, man. Yes...you make good points. BUT Lockhart is likeable because he's just so stupid. You can't believe that anyone would actually be like this (though JK did base it one someone she once knew), so it's funny. Slughorn is just meh. I don't not like him, but I don't like him. He hasn't done anything terrible (except the whole horcrux thing but he didn't mean to do it, and obviously he was ashamed of it) but...still. Mrs. Weasley asks Harry what he thinks of him. He shrugs, he can't say one way or another and Mrs. Weasley agrees with him. I think he's one of Jo's greatest character's, because he's such a mystery. Mystery is the wrong word, but I hope you get what I mean. I can't hate him and I can't like him. Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart = Awesome I'm so happy they're putting Lockhart in the 5th movie Quote: I hated her, well I didn't hate her
I hated her. There wasn't anything good about her, ugh I don't want to think about it. She infuriates me

I don't know if I hated her . . . personally . . . I hated what she represented. You know what I mean? I know so many people like her. Everything that happened in book 5 just made me angry! Ha ha ha . . . oh I got so much political stuff out of it, it's hysterical.
I have to agree that Slughorn was kind of just "meh." He's okay . . . he didn't do too much to add to the story except the horucruxes . . . and maybe Lily. I can't find the words to describe him, but there are so many people like him . . .

Okay so yesterday, I was flipping through book 6, reading my favourite parts and I started to wonder if Harry is a pure blood. Because his mom wasn't . . . would that effect him? And then I was wondering (which I'm sure has been answered a dozen times over) how could Tom Riddle be Salazar's heir if he wasn't a pure blood? *runs around screaming: I need to reread these books*
Okay. . . sorry about that. I've confused myself utterly and completely.

Well, there is never a direct heir that is PURE blood, but Tom Riddle has a hint of Salazar Slytherin blood in him and no one else has the same blood since Merope came from the only existing pure blood line of Slytherin. And seeing as though her father and his brother are both...well, y'know --- Tom Riddle would of course claim himself to be the only existing heir.
