^Good Luck!!!
I have a big test on WWII coming up soon too, and we read The Diary of Anne Frank as a book for school, so it's partly on that too... Oh, well it should be fairly easy, since I like learning about WWII and stuff.

oh you do? Well here`s a text I wrote earlier about my country`s part in the war and I made some more specific adds:
Operation Barbadossa was the attack to Russia with the forces of Germany and it`s smaller ally countries that it had consumed, then you see Finland gained it`s indepence during the year 1917 when Russia had a civil war between the Bolseviks & Royalists, eventually Bolseviks won and Finland during that time had been seperated as well...
So we had our own Civil war... The White`s versus the Red`s... The red`s were mostly labourers and workers who believed that communisim was a brighter future as the whites were the upper classes... their leader was C.G.E. Mannerheim(formerly a high ranking officer in the tsârs army...)
So... the whites won as you might expect and we had indepence actually granted(admitted) by Lenin..
I got off topic there...
So.. back to your questions...
In the year 1939 in the Molotov Ribbentrop treaty in, which Germany and the Soviets agreed not to attack each others was a secret part that was to divide eastern europe and Finland was to be the Soviets... Well 1939 the russians shot their own infantry forces near the border with their own artillery claiming that the finns did it(these were named as the Shots of Mannila and the Finnish artillery were nowhere near the border)
The Soviet`s armies attacking points:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... erview.png
The Soviet Union attacked Finland beginning winter war in, which caused us to lose some lands, but remained independent... the war lasted for 105 days..
These lands we gave away in the Winter War`s peace:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... n_1940.png
Everywhere we were outnumbered, materials(weapons, airplanes, tanks) & men(of course..) so the battles that we won turned out to be how to beat a bigger force with a smaller one... I`ll just put up numbers to describe it from the battle of Raatteentie, here the russians had tried to attack Oulu and cut Finland in Half so that we would be practicly doomed, but as they were stopped and the hole division beaten that plan failed...
Men
Finland USSR
6 000 25 000
Casualties
Finland USSR
900 17 500
Now we wanted payback and our lands back... So we went together with the Germans(we also got weaponry from them) and banged the door down, well it only resulted in attacking and then retreating.
This was the biggest coquest Finland managed to do:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... on_War.png
So when the Germans were pushed back after Stanlingrad(which resulted in Soviet victory) and we managed to hold our ground there was a peace treaty made, but after the Soviets mass attack on Finland and we lost areas with other agreements etc...
The area`s and the map of current day Finland:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... n_1944.png
and we had to drive the germans troops out of Finland that were in Lapland. They had entered Finland trough Norway, which they had conquered.
Now followed the Lapland war, which was mostly that the germans retreated to Norway burning and destroying to slow our advance, this was called the Lapland War, which had no signficant battles...
*long sigh*
enough?
EDIT: I forgot to menton that Mannerheim was our leader trough all of that, I mean he became presiden for a short while, but was mostly the high commander of our forces and earned the rank of Marshall of Finland in his 70th birthday.... he was also visited by Hitler that day, whom Mannerheim didn`t like since he had never approved the aid of the germans really...
Funny thing that
he has a nickname Marski
PS. I might always add more to this text...

@Curunír: Yes, I'm protestant. I go to church whenever I can, but our parson moved away in December, so we have no church for I-dunno-how-long. That drives me nuts. grrr...
@sapphire: Seriously? Cool! Luther is my fav. historical character, too! Last week I bought a nearly 100 year old book about him. Do you know a book called "Luther" by Guido Dieckmann? (Dunno if there's an english version, so...) It's pretty cool.
This guy was just awesome! Even though I don't agree with him in all points. But that's religion. All ppl believe something else in some point even though they actually believe all the same. I think everyone has to find things out him/herself. I once read something like: "I hear and behold that god is in every object around me and yet I understand god not at all." I think that you can't "understand" god and it would be wrong to try. You can just ..."believe" god (I know that sentence made no sense...) And again there may be thousands of ppl who would argue with me at that point.

Well we need some subject so here is one for you... whom were your countries fighter aces or some that you know if your country wasn`t involved?
My country had Hasse Wind that had 75 confirmed air victories, he was the second most succesful pilot in the FAF(Finnish Air Force) and there was of course number one:
Ilmari Juutilainen with 94 and 1/6 kills, he used first a focker, then a brewster and then a Messerschmitt Bf 109G from the germans...
Here`s some plane pics:
