Turgon and Miranda followed Jamie down the stairs. Turgon tipped Miranda a tiny wink as she tried to conceal a grin.

(Yeah, I do that all the time, but I usually catch it in proofreading.)

"We shall always ride on the back of a convertible, with you driving, Jamie, of course, holding aloft a huge banner bearing the legend "Frodo Lives!"." Miranda dropped behind to talk with Jamie. "Is he always like this?" Miranda asked. Jamie's reply came in the form of a 15-knot (sp? as in wind speed?) sigh.
