"Blimy!" Devina swore, as she hung onto the rigging for dear life. They managed to get the other sail down, even if they nearly did lose half the crew on that one. Sodden wet, and extremly bad tempered, they climbed down, and glared at Jack.

Water sprayed into Jack's eyes painfully. He squinted at the dark clouds still building up power ahead of them. The wind was so powerful that it thrusted Jack's body back occasionally. Jack still yelled out orders, but they could barely be heard.

Devina still stood glring at Jack. Her body seemed unaffected by the storm, apart from her hair, that billowed about wildly. She looked like some ghost, her pale skin in contrast with her hair, her green eyes reflecting like a cats.

The waves on the sea now grew more powerful as the storm seemed to grow stronger. Jack fought the wind as hard as he could not caring what Devina or Vari were thinking of him right now.
A few moments later an angry wave caved in over the ship and crashed in on Jack sweeping him away in a sudden flash.

If Vari had not grabbed Jack at that second, he could have swept away. Fighting the waves, she stumbled up to the wheel and steered as best she could. Saving Jack was something she had never done before, and the others were surprised by it.

Jack felt something grab hold of his ankle as he was overtaken by the massive wave that had passed through him. He coughed and spewed up water as he tried to stand back up.

Vari said nothing of it, nor dared to look at Jack. It was something unexpected, even though the two had been friends for the longest of time.
But everything Vari did recently was unexpected.
She kept her eyes toward the ocean and continued to steer the boat through the heavy storm. Nothing was going to stop them from reaching Skull Island. Nothing. And if it meant saving her crew, she would do it.
